If you can keep from putting the wood into the dish washer, these things will last you for a long long time. The silicone has held up longer than our last non Kitchen Aide ones. Would strongly recommend these for anyone’s home.

The best thing about these spatulas is that you can remove the silicon top from the handle! This design is not easy to find anymore, but I took a risk and got lucky when I purchased these spatulas. Knowing how much mold is growing and multiplying where the top overlaps the handle is so gross, nasty, and, not to mention, unhealthy. I definitely can’t buy spatulas that don’t separate so I can clean and thoroughly dry the top and the handle and will stock up on a few more sets of these for sure. Overall I like these spatulas. They’re good sizes for lots of different uses and they have a nice feel in your hand. They’re strong and can handle thick cookie dough. They get every bit of cake batter off the bowl and wash up nicely. My only complaint is that with the bamboo handles they have to be hand washed. This makes for extra work. A coated wooden handle would have added some weight and cost but would have been much more practical. ... show more

I cook a lot and I'm a gadget geek. Even owned my own catering company at one point. Buying kitchen toys is my guilty pleasure. Of the many many many silicone spatulas I've held in my hand, this one feels the best. I'll even say: I like this better than my OXO spatulas.. and my house is OXO a lot of things. The shape, weight and grip of the bamboo handle is probably my favorite thing about it. Followed by the versatility of the silicone head. I've used the flat side to scrape cylinder-shaped bowl of my food processor; the round side the scrape round-shaped bowls; and flexy tip to get under omelettes, crepes, the last bits of gravy, or whatever you can think of. You really don't need anything else beyond this set. The down side of bamboo is that over time, it deteriorates, unlike plastic handles. But I'm talking after years of heavy use, and throwing them in the dishwasher when I'm too tired to clean my hand. Yes, the head comes off for more thorough cleaning. ... show more
