I like the torch. Great size, easy to use, looks nice, works well. I just have an issue refilling it. The butane spits everywhere and I cant get the torch more than a quarter full. I like this torch a lot so this refilling flaw is a real disappointment!

The media could not be loaded. I got this to replace a creme brûlée torch that went bad. The size on this one feels to be between a small creme brûlée torch and a professional kitchen torch. I do like the red colour, the ease of use and how well the flame adjusts. So far have used it mostly for searing salmon for salmon tataki and Kewpie mayo for salmon Oshizushi. I use it mostly 2x a week so I’ll see how it holds up over time. ... show more

This torch is *chef’s kiss* for caramelizing crème brûlée, light welding, or summoning your inner dragon for a game of DND. But there’s one tiny hiccup: the fuel dial doesn’t have a firm "click" into the off position. Sure, the trigger has a safety, but without a solid "off" setting, I live in perpetual fear that this thing might get nudged in the cabinet, release its gassy soul, and transform my kitchen into the set of a Michael Bay movie. 🧨 Now, I know what you're thinking... maybe this chick just lacks impulse control. And to that, I say, did someone give you access to the surveillance cameras in my home? My family isn’t exactly known for restraint; my dad, for instance, thought the best way to teach me “winter driving skills” was to do doughnuts in the snow while I sat in the passenger seat, white-knuckling his scotch. I was 3. We like to say, “A gumball never falls far from the gumball machine... unless it falls onto linoleum floor. Then they scatter everywhere. But on high-pile carpet? They stay close.” And this torch? It’s the gumball on linoleum, teetering on total chaos. If you’ve got the discipline and restraint of a cat staring down a laser pointer, you’ll love it. First off, I’d like to say that I read many reviews and looked at multiple culinary torches before settling on this one. The review that sticks out in my mind is the one that warns people against this torch, for it cannot be shut off. I thought to myself, no way. That can’t happen, there’s almost always a way to control the flame/shut off a torch. I filtered through a few more torches before coming back to this one. Maybe I was feeling a bit bored, I’m sure some of you in quarantine can relate to the immense and desperate desire to do something else (safely.) Maybe the possibility of me not being able to control something so dangerous was exciting. Maybe I was tired of reading about them and just wanted to settle and buy a torch. I digress, product was purchased, that dreadful, but invigorating review was just a footnote on a file in an endless field of filing cabinets in my brain. My package arrived this evening. I filled it with butane, and let it rip. And rip it did. While filling it while butane, I noticed an unfamiliar hissing sound which was my first red flag. The second red flag was when a giant flame erupted from the tip. The third red flag was when I could not control the flame and the fourth and final red flag was when I could not shut it off. In total, that’s four red flags which is three too many for myself. I really did not hold merit to that review warning people against this product, but I wish I had in retrospect. Please, dear shopper, please do NOT buy this torch. I’m sure any other will be better, and you’ll save yourself from the panic and absolute terror I put myself through. ... show more
