I am giving this Finch feeder 4 stars because of the lack of tracking and very slow shipping. The feeder itself is well built and easy to put together. I love both the wide top, which helps keep the seeds dry and the wide base, which allows the birds to sit and eat the loose seed in the tray. The finches took to the feeder within 20 minutes, and I've had up to 6 hanging on the metal tubing to feed. I knew when I ordered the feeder that it was going to take a month to arrive but it was the only one with the wide bottom tray so I took a chance. What was frustrating was that even though it said tracking, it showed ordered but never shipped. Three days before I received it I finally got a notice that it was shipped. My order date was 5/3, ship date was 6/23, delivery date was 6/26. Not sure why it took over 7 weeks to ship?! If you aren't in a hurry, this is a great feeder. I like it so much I only took off 1 star for the excessive wait time for shipping. ... show more

    • I wanted to love this feeder, but...

The design and construction of this feeder is real quality, however, I bought it with the hope that it could replace the finch socks I was previously using. It's aesthetically pleasing and easy to assemble and easy to clean, but what I found was that the finches do not like it. I saw a finch on it once - and then I would see the finches forego this feeder altogether and use the open feeder nearby. More recently, while I have seen finches in the neighborhood, they do not seem to flock to my back yard as they once did. I don't know if it's because of the metal mesh on the side (as opposed to a flexible nylon mesh of a sock feeder) or what, but I have gone back to using a sock feeder and hope the finches will come back to my yard. Each time I filled this feeder, I ended up just having to pour all the seeds out after a while because none of them were being eaten. I used this feeder most of last summer and so far this summer before I replaced it with another sock feeder, so it's not like I didn't give the finches time to adjust. They just didn't like it. I would give it zero stars for finch appeal, but five stars for construction - so I settled on three stars for that reason. ... show more

This feeder is great for finches - feeding nyger seed - they come in droves and there is plenty of space for them to hang on while they eat. Easy to take apart and clean as well as refill. Very pleased!!
