  • Nice Anchor Bags
I just finished filling these with sand yesterday and they look nice and should do a good job of holding down my canopy in case it starts getting windy. I divided a 50 pound bag between the 8 tubes and could probably use another 25 pounds until they are completely filled. These are easy to use - just wrap each one around a leg on the canopy and velcro together. They are made with a durable nylon material and none of the sand escapes out of the tubs. The reason why I knocked one star off is because one of the zippers wasn't working when I received it, however, I was able to work with it and get it to zip correctly. Needs a bit better quality control before leaving the warehouse. UPDATE - I used these over the 4th of July Weekend and they were perfect. We had wind gusts of up to 40 mph, and even though my canopy sides flapped around a bit, it stayed in place. I saw a few vendors having to hold their canopies so they wouldn't fly away even though they were using milk jugs filled with water or sand. Once vendor even had this tent take off and fly away. I'm really happy with these weight bags and they were worth the cost. I wish they didn't come damaged so I could have given them a 5-Star rating but fair is fair. Excellent weight bags. ... show more

  • Helpful when the wind starts to blow
I purchased these weight bags for the stand that holds up quilts on display. When outdoors, our stand with quilt attached tended to blow over in fairly light breezes. I saw these used on canopies, and find they work great on our tripod quilt stands too. We filled ours with sand, which presented two problems. First, the sand tended to get in the zipper teeth and make it hard to zip closed. I solved the problem by running my fingernail along the teeth to dislodge the sand grains. Second, I am 71 years old and they are very heavy filled with sand, maybe 25 lbs. The weight will be great in wind, but, gravel may have been a little lighter to carry, and not clog the zippers. They attach easily, even to the slanted tripods, with Velcro straps. They are made of black nylon and very sturdy. This is our first season of using them, so I cannot judge the durability. They are a much better solution than sandbags or weights, and you can tie down your canopy to the loops on top between the two cylinders filled with sand. ... show more

  • Work well if you read and prepare!
I'm extremely glad I read reviews of this product before purchasing. You're paying for the design of the bags and how they attach to the tent, not the quality of the seams and zipper. I do outdoor craft shows and it can be very windy where I live, so tent weights are a must. My hands were begging me to give the cinder blocks a break, so I decided to upgrade to these bags instead - the trunk of my car was also appreciative. I already had pea gravel on hand, so I used that to fill the bags. I didn't want to try and pour gravel into a bag inside a bag, so I just used the smallest freezer zip-top bags from the dollar store - make sure you use freezer bags so the gravel doesn't rip them! Fill each bag about halfway and toss it into the fabric tubes. Now you've got tent weights that attach easily, are convenient to carry, and won't make a mess! Minus one star, because ideally these should be heavy-duty waterproof bags so the zip-top bag step can be skipped. ... show more

  • Worth it!
We live in windy Plainfield, IL so when we purchased this gazebo http://www.amazon.com/America-GO29639DS-DBBC-Gazebo--Desert-Stone/dp/B008233YWS/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&qid=1432156777&sr=8-12&keywords=gazebo we knew we were going to have to anchor it properly. The gazebo sits on our concrete patio and we rent, so anchoring into the patio was not an option for us. We researched online on how much weight you should have for windy conditions on a hard surface and a lot of vendors said they recommend at least 40lbs a leg. We purchased 3 packs of these anchors so that we could attach them to all 12 legs of the gazebo, I guess you could stack multiple on each leg if you needed. 1 set or 4 of these bags hold approx 100lbs of sand. Sand is sold in 50 lb bags, so after 6 bags, we have 300 lbs holding our gazebo down and it held wonderfully in the 30 mile an hour winds we had this weekend. Read some reviews about using zip locks inside the bag but that was a pain, zip lock was hard to zip inside the cylinder after filling. We used 8 gallon garbage bags inside and it gave us plenty of room to tie off the bags at the top. ... show more

  • I do love these bags they wrap tight around the tent/canopy legs
I do love these bags they wrap tight around the tent/canopy legs. I used playground sand and bought 3 50# bags and it took 2 2/3 of the sand I bought to fill bags up fully! Also very difficult to fill by yourself buy I managed would be much easier if you had a helper to hold bags up while filling. I also experienced some of the fine sand seeping out a little. I will continue to use them as is for now but I plan on filling them up with some pea stone in near future. I will try to write a review on that once I get the pea stone in them. I like the reinforced loop at bottom to stake down and also has loop at top to tie to tent/canopy top as well if needed. During my 3 day 2 night use the tent never moved and I felt like it would pry with stand 20-30 mph winds very secure and held in place very well!!! I would buy again if I have need for more. ... show more

  • Not good for high winds on the beach
I bought these to use on my canopy on the beach. In low to moderate breeze they work fine. But beach winds tend to gust higher than moderate. They will not hold the canopy in place when winds are at a higher rate.
