  • If you are at all handy this will be easy
Size: 9 INCH Queen
We were gifted my daughter's queen size bed set with a new 9" mattress for our spare bedroom. It was missing the box spring that she had discarded. Being totally against having to run to the local furniture stores and get ripped off by the commissioned salespeople trying to talk me into buying an entire new bedroom set, I wondered if Amazon sold box springs. I was thinking of the old days where a box spring is a full-size wooden framed unit that would require borrowing a pickup truck to get it home. Well, sure 'nuf, Amazon does sell box springs. Completely different than what I had pictured. They are now completely steel, come in a small flat package, and there is nothing "springy" about them despite the name. In reality they are a steel matrix that folds out and gets bolted together to form a rigid and very strong platform to hold the mattress above the bed's side rails. This is a product that has dozens and dozens of offerings on Amazon, each with a different brand name and different price. But as long-time Amazon buyers have discovered, they are all pretty much the same unit that was produced by the same factory in China; if you look closely at the pictures you will immediately discover all the sellers are using the same pictures. The only creative difference is in the descriptions where each seller tries to make his offering sound a bit better than his competitor's. So, my advice is to simply shop for the best price; you're going to get the same unit. Anyhow, I bought the one called Gdduck 9 Inch Box Spring Queen. Assembly is easy provided you are a bit handy. The instructions consist of a single sheet with four pictures and essentially no text. First, be sure you have enough room to assemble it outside of the bed frame. If you are in a small bedroom consider assembling the box spring in another room with lots of floor space. Once assembled it really doesn't weigh much and you can simply maneuver it into the bedroom and drop it into the bed frame. Unfold the four major pieces as shown, insert and tighten the bolts/nuts as shown. They provide a small wrench but assembly will go much faster if you instead use a 10mm socket wrench and ratchet. Note that the supplied nuts are Ny-lok type, which was a nice surprise since they won't loosen up with time. Just be sure to thread the nuts on to the bolts in the correct direction - the flat end of the nut is where you start threading to the bolt, not the rounded end of the nut. And obviously, insert all the bolts from the outside toward the center such that the nuts are on the inside to ensure the bedding sheets and blankets won't get ripped. I suggest you first insert all the bolts and nuts loosely finger-tight since that will allow you to line up all the flanges easily. Once everything is loosely assembled on a flat floor, go around and tighten up all the nuts snugly. One word of caution: the sellers are a bit loose with their dimensions. They may say it is a standard 60" x 80" unit but in reality it actually measures 59.5" x 79.5". So check your bed set rails. Mine had wooden ledges on the sides and foot and were really expecting a 60" x 80" box spring. I had to rip some lumber on a table saw and build out the wooden ledges so that the box spring would not fall through the opening. No big deal but you don't want a surprise. Build quality of the Gdduck box spring is excellent; everything fit, nothing was bent out of shape and it appears very strong and rigid. With a decent mattress sitting on top it's a comfortable night's sleep. ... show more

  • Sturdy & easy to assemble
Size: Twin
Assembly takes about 20 minutes or less, we had our toddler helping so it took a few extra minutes. It is very durable, my kid loves to jump on their bed and it has been going strong. Very good product for the money.

  • Sturdy and quiet
Size: Queen
I was skeptical about this boxsprings, and worried it would be noisy or wiggly. But, it is very sturdy, not wiggly at all, and does not make any noise. It comes in pieces and went together easily and looks very nice. I’m very satisfied with this product. I like it even more than a traditional boxsprings. Very lightweight and easy to move around. ... show more

  • So far so good
I got this because my son is destructive. So far it’s been holding up, so it passes the test in my mind. Not too difficult to put together, but certainly tedious.

  • Better than Wood
I was doubtful this would work as well as a traditional box spring but I think it's better. No noise so far and extremely easy to build. It's heavy duty and functions great. I'd highly recommend this type of box spring if your in the market for one. It is on the heavy side and I recommend 2 people when moving it mostly because it's awkward to move by yourself. ... show more

  • Cheap and deficient product
Size: King
Highly recommend purchasing box spring from another brand because this purchase has been a disastrous experience for me. First of all, the package came in damaged with one corner completely opened. Then after opening the box, the parts seems very cheaply made which I should have known in the first place from its price. It is also NOT EASY TO ASSEMBLE, my girlfriend and I spend an hour and a half and we were barely half way done. It requires lots of tools that were not included and it’s very difficult trying to put parts together. Not to mention, we found out the screws that were given were not enough during the installation process. I usually never leaves a one star review to any product but this one truly deserves one. I really suggest that the manufacture take sometime to improve their product quality before putting it to sale in the market and check what’s in the package before they ship it off to customers. My girlfriend and I spend hours browsing the website for a box spring and finally chose this because it feel like a value for money option, but this decision backfired and we feel like we have wasted hours of our life for nothing. I guess we should have went with more known brand instead of this random manufacture and their deficient, flawed product. ... show more

  • Sturdy, Strong, Doesn't Squeak
Size: Queen
We purchased a Q size to replace a very tall (12") box spring in a guest room several months ago. We've been pleased: the frame is strong, quiet, and immediately gave the bed a more modern profile. The whole room looks better! Now, we are ordering the same metal frame for our primary bedroom. We are seniors, and are finding our taller bed is too hard to climb onto/out of. ... show more
