    • Little rocks EVERYWHERE
I bought this for my 2.5 year old son after he saw an ad for this toy on one of those obnoxious YouTube unboxing shows. I resisted for MONTHS but this kid has a really good memory. He's like an elephant. Anyway. To say I hate this toy is probably an exaggeration, but the little rocks go everywhere and stick to the carpet in the playroom. I am constantly on my knees picking them off the ground. The toys is comes with are flimsy and cheap, which I guess is to be expected. The one nice thing is that the box turns into a construction vignette where you can keep the rocks (somewhat) contained and create a fun building site by incorporating other toys. My son LOVES this toy and has been playing with it daily for about a month now. Not one day goes by that he does not spend time crushing rocks or moving them around with one of his construction toys. I am giving it 4 stars (3 for me, 5 for him) out of fairness but don't expect a high quality product. Mostly you are paying for a small baggie of sticky rocks that may or may not drive you out of your mind. ... show more

    • 4 year old plays for hours
This product arrived exactly as described, and my 4 year-old loves it! In addition to the rock, there are several components that he uses to manipulate the rock itself - the "crusher," a boulder that he can use to mold the rocks into a larger mass, an excavator with a working claw, and a driver for the excavator. I also like that the box folds open with a printed landscape ... the fun design keeps my son's interest and therefore everything stays contained. A few rocks have escaped the box once or twice, but they're very easy to pick up by simply pressing on them with a larger clump of rock. The only thing missing is a container for the rock, since it can / will apparently dry out if left in open air. I've been using a zip lock bag, and that seems to do the trick, so a simple enough solution. All in all, this set encourages creativity and imagination by allowing for endless possibilities.     • Fun for my 4 year old.
My 4 year old received this for his birthday and what a hit it was, he loves all things construction. The pieces are easy for him to use and he has played with it almost everyday since he's had it. The only downside is I can't find replacement for the rock as it does spill and get stuck to everything! I find it stuck to pants every time I do wash and my vacuum, if it doesn't stick to the filter, is full of it. The truck itself the dump bed doesn't dump that was a frustrating point for my son at first as he wanted to dump the rock after it was full and unless you pull the bed off and dump it you just have to turn the truck upside down. It's a fun toy but they really do need replacement rock available, hopefully soon. ... show more

    • Grandson loves it
My 3 yr old grandson loves this and plays with it often. It keeps him entertained and doesn’t make a mess. I was skeptical that they would really stick together and not make a huge mess but I’m pleasantly surprised. The first day he played with it there were some residual rocks here and there that stuck to our socks but nothing unbearable. The bag of rocks was smaller than expected and I’ll probably have to buy more but so far he’s enjoying them. ... show more

    • Kinetic -rock- is sticky! :(
My kid likes the vehicle and the rock crusher. He seems to like the Kinetic Rock itself, but I don't: it is NOT easy to clean up like Kinetic Sand. It's too sticky to sweep, it stuck to inside-out clothing through the washer and dryer, and the individual rocks are uncomfortably large to step on if you fail to clean up completely. The box unfolds as a nice 3-sided play area, theoretically limiting the mess, but the assembled construction vehicle can't be stored in the box. (If only they'd made the box a quarter of an inch taller!) The legs keep falling off of the construction worker figurine that came with the kit, so I'm glad my kid doesn't care about his vehicles having drivers. Advice: Skip the rock crusher set and buy regular Kinetic Sand, some plastic construction toys (even if they're not made specifically for Kinetic sand), and a shallow latching tub to use as a sandbox. Equal fun for the kids, less irritation for the adults. ... show more

As one may presume, given the name, rock will have a much different feeling than sand, even with these type of toys. For a couple years, the kids have loved the kinetic sand, so we got this set, thinking it'd be much of the same...and while they play with it, let me warn any parents. This rock, while sticking to itself for play, has enough of a residue/coating on each piece...too much so that it sticks to nearly anything, even the hands of the people playing with it. My youngest doesn't like her hands remaining dirty, so when this rock clings to her hands, she flails them around, eventually throwing multiple pieces of rock...multiple directions around the room she's in. Kinetic sand is easy to clean up and doesn't stick to hands during play, so when this rock disappears, my wife and I will not be upset. ... show more

Loved it, it was just like the image, and my son played with it for hours. It was soft, and it actually is pretty hard to dry out. My son left the kid off of our jar over night. It never dried like I thought it may have. It's easier to clean up than the kinetic sand, but it can scratch wood floors or laminate. It really is little tiny rocks. But it's really worth it for a little boy or girl who loves to play with play dough. Son is 5 and my daughter is 8. They both played so well and long together. Ugh. I hate this toy. :-) But do my boys love it? YES! They have played for hours and hours with this kinetic rock set. They originally saw a commercial for it on tv and just HAD to have it. I gave in. The kinetic rock in this set is SOO sticky and messy and just such a pain to clean up. But it's a really fun thing for kids to play with. They use their imaginations, and it's great for sensory play. So yes, I'm an annoyed complaining mom, but I really do have to give it 5 stars, because the kids love it SO much. :-) ... show more

The “rocks” are sticky and disappeared quickly, unlike regular kinetic sand. But the kids absolutely loved it while it lasted. I bought more kinetic rock and it also disappeared quickly.

    • This product isn't KINETIC rock.... it's STICKY rock. Beware.
If I were simply rating this on how much my son enjoyed it, it might get 4 stars. However, as the parent who bought this item - I'd like to give it zero stars... or go back in time and NEVER BUY THIS SET. We seriously LOVE kinetic sand. It's fun, easy to work with and super easy to clean up (it doesn't get stuck in carpet or anything like what you encounter with Play-doh). I figured the kinetic rock would be similar to the sand, and what 3 yr. old wouldn't like to create small boulders and crush them? The description states the rock "magically" sticks together... Warning to all parents that will have to deal with this rock- there is nothing "magical" about sticky rocks. You can literally see some type of goo on the rocks. And these rocks won't just stick to each other, they will stick to EVERYTHING. Your child's clothes... the carpet... their hair... I seriously want to throw this set away. However, my son still thinks it's fun, so it's around a little while longer until he loses interest and it can "disappear" without causing a lot of sadness. ***To anyone who actually purchased this and is dealing with the mess, one big win to help contain it was to use packing tape to completely seal up the sides of the box when it's unfolded. The first headache was my son trying to scoop the rock and it falling on the floor (or on his clothes) because of the open spaces on the sides of the "sand box" style setup. You can't fold it back up, but for the short life I see this having, it seriously reduced the amount he was getting everywhere. Just put the tape around the outside, and then around the inside so that the sticky sides of the tape are covered.*** ... show more

Perfect gift if you dislike the parents of the child you’re giving it to. Bought for this my son for Christmas and although he loves it, the rocks stick tk everything they shouldn’t. The vacuum does not take them out of the carpet, they don’t wash out of clothing and create a whole situation when they get on the animals. Don’t do it! ... show more
