    • The perfect cover for the Oasis

I recently purchased a new Oasis e-reader and realized after about a week I really needed to get a cover. Don't get me wrong, it's a great reader but I felt it was a little too slippery with the all aluminum case. I also wanted to protect it because it just seemed a little too fragile having it lay around with no protective cover. An additional feature would be the fact it would turn off automatically when I closed the cover rather than having to manually push the on/off button without one. One of the main reasons I upgraded to the Oasis is the fact that it is water proof. I love reading out in the pool during the warm summer months and was always nervous about dropping my 2nd generation paper white in the drink. When Kindle came out with waterproof versions I knew this was the way to go. So my cover had to be waterproof as well which narrowed my choices. After reading several reviews it just seemed to me the safest bet was to stick with the Amazon brand so I ordered the water-safe fabric cover in charcoal black. I can honestly say this cover was exactly what I was hoping it would be. It fits the Oasis perfectly without adding much weight or bulk. It improves the grip tremendously and is very easy to hold. I like the fact that now all I have to do is close the cover to turn the Oasis off and best of all it looks amazing. The front is very easy to open and close and the reader is still very light weight with no arm fatigue even after hours of reading. It is designed to fit the outline of the Oasis perfectly thus maintaining the ergonomics of the reader itself. I cannot recommend this particular cover highly enough. I purchased this case the same time I purchased my oasis so that I could protect it. I was really super happy that I did that because I don’t really like scratches on things. The fit is perfect, it just snapped right on. It looks really good and it actually matches my laptop cover so that’s a bonus for me. it is a little bit textured so if you like a smoother texture, I might not go with this one as it does have a different feel about it. I actually like the way it looks and the feel so I’m super happy with it. I like the gray color and I think it makes my oasis look very posh. I would definitely purchase again. ... show more

So to start off, the feel. The fabric probably isn't what you'd initially imagine. It's tightly woven and feels more like a rough plastic than soft fabric. I think that's probably good for durability. It feels harder and therefore more sturdy. The blue was less bright than the pictures made it look, which was what I had hoped. The inside of the flap is actually a quite soft felt material. It's great and comfortable to hold when the flap is open and tucked around back. Also oddly the inside material smelled like matcha out of the box... no complaints there! It is held closed by magnets, and automatically turns on when the cover is opened. As a bonus the magnets also hold it open when you flip the cover to the back. I just wish the hinge were a bit more sturdy, when it's open and you hold it in one hand the flap moves up and down a bit causing the fabric to run together which isn't super pleasant. ... show more

This is my 2nd case. The reason I went with this is from what I learned from the other. First, the textured cover is much better than the smooth, slick cover of the other I tried. The texture stops the kindle from sliding around, making it easy to set it most places without worrying about it sliding. It would slide if you put it at a severe angle of course (and why would you do that), but it doesn’t slide around absolutely everywhere like the smooth covers. The texture is rough but not in an unpleasant way. It doesn’t feel like sandpaper. It’s just textured. Rough but not annoying or irritating. The inside feels like a very thin suede, so when you’re holding it to read it, it feels great. Also, it’s very sturdy and the magnetic closure is STRONG. My first case had a magnetic closure but not as strong, and it would let loose after I put the kindle away, effectively draining my battery. This one stays put. I know some reviews said it’s hard to open, but I don’t find that to be a problem. Yes, the magnets are strong, but not where you have to work hard to pry it open. Having had the alternative, the strong magnets are a huge plus. Plus, should I drop it, I want those to hold, otherwise what good is it? I didn’t get this one first because there were cheaper alternatives but now I know why this costs what it does. Durable, easy to clean (should you need to), strong and reliable magnetic closures, comfortable to hold both in how it feels to the touch and its weight. Which is next to nothing. Especially having had another case to compare it to. I thought that one was light...compared to this, it wasn’t light at all. I feel this case will last the life of my kindle, which makes it well worth the price. ... show more

TLDR: The waterproof is nice and faster responsiveness. If those don't matter, go for paperwhite. (backlight is a must for the amount I read) I'm liking it, its better to hold than the paperwhite feels lighter, even though it isn't. I got this after my old paperwhite died (5 years.. not bad!), and wanted something waterproof. For waterproof this is awesome! I've been taking it with me to the beaches and community pools and works as promised. With the settings of my old paperwhite, it doesn't last as long, but.... the responsiveness is noticeably better. I could probably boost the battery by knocking down the backlight, vs auto responsive which is great feature vs paperwhite. Yes, I'm lazy, the manual adjustment works great, and saves you battery. You can do it on the Oasis, but I wanted to do less of it vs the paperwhite. My only negative, is that the cover that they sell with this ( not this product ), which I didn't buy for my old paperwhite, is... serviceable, and does a good job turning it on and off with motion. In the first 30 days the rubber edging of the cover was already peeling off. With the cover it's still definitely doing better than my old paperwhite which I just threw around everywhere, and had scratches all over the place. ... show more
