    • Great little unit for what it is
Why does anyone need an MP3 player these days? Well, speaking for myself, I wanted it for my 10 year old grandson who doesn't have a cell phone. We have a long road trip on the horizon and I thought this would be a handy way for him to listen to his own music and/or audiobooks. This little device works well for that. In addition to the MP3 player, you receive a (short) charging cord, a C port charging adaptor, inexpensive earbuds that work ok and a screen protector which you will want to use since I do think the screen of this unit is glass. Too bad the manufacturer didn't see fit to include screen cleaning pads for convenience. You might want to use better earbuds. In order to load content to the device, with you phone, scan the QR code provided in the included leaflet; "MiniShare" for android and "Zapya Go" ios. To transfer content, you can use the charging cord to plug into your computer, laptop, phone or whatever device you're using, or you can load the content to an SD card and insert it into the phone. Again, it would have been handy if this MP3 player came with an SD card but it doesn't. It does have 256 GB of storage which is plenty for music, videos, photos, voice recordings, etc. I'm having a problem accessing Spotify at the moment (won't let me prove that I'm human) so I'm a little frustrated with that. That is why I'm giving it 4 stars-because it's annoying me. There are a lot of preinstalled apps on this little MP3 player. There is even a web browser. You can access Spotify, Spotify kids, audible, amazon music, Pandora and others. There is a clock app, a sound recorder, a calendar (that you can add events to) and a gallery although you cannot take your own photos. You must download photos from another device. There is an FM radio function that tunes to your area stations. You can connect the device to bluetooth as well. It holds a charge for at least 2 days that I know of personally! You can set parental controls on any of the apps. The instructions say you need a code to enter the device, which I set, but every time I turn the unit on, it never asks me for it so, go figure. I'm not a tech guru or genius but I think this is a simple device that's mostly user friendly. Probably my grandson can figure out more things about it than I can. At any rate, he's excited about it and even though he doesn't have his own cell phone, he feels like he's part of the "in" crowd since he has this little device that provides some entertainment for him. It's easier for him to carry it around than a tablet. He does love his tablet though. ... show more

    • Great Media Player With Parental Controls
I picked a couple of these up to test them out, and I have to say I'm impressed. They're not going to blow anyone's mind in regards to general capability; they can play music and videos, look at pictures, and even use some apps. The really nice part is the parent controls: they're effectively hard coded into the device. You can't even get Google Play to run normally on here so it's really hard to overcome the parental controls without a parent's help. Great way to allow your kid something with a screen and basic functions without opening them up to every possible app on the marketplace, in my opinion. ... show more

    • Terrible battery life, outdated out of the box, difficult to use.
Not worth it. First of all this thing is pretty heavy compared even larger devices I own. You would think that weight would get you a worthwhile battery, but it does not. I thought the description meant 2 hours charge time got you 50 hours of use, but it shows 2 hours of use time on a full battery. I'm sure that might stretch with the screen off and just playing music, but who knows if that music is streaming. The apps are outdated and I can't find any way to update or add others. I contacted customer service and they provided terrible instructions on how to download an APK and drag it to the device using my computer. To be honest I'm not even comfortable plugging this thing into my computer, it just feels sketchy when customer service responds with Chinese characters and goes directly to your spam. I'm not sure why they couldn't just let you use the app store and actually manage the device with parental controls, which is another thing I can barely figure out. This is such a FUN idea! The player works great. All the protections a parent could want are included, and it really lets my very picky, musically inclined little one play what he wants to his hearts content. So far it has proven to be very sturdy and has a good battery life.

    • Fun for kids to listen to music...
Before it get into this review I must say that ours was a little busted, in the fact that it is hard to log into profiles because of all the parental settings. I was eventually able to by-pass the kid apps and log my daughter into the adult music streaming apps. The sad thing is that it has the hardware and firmware to run apps that aren't just music apps, but as soon as you try to log into a google account you get an unbreachable firewall. It does stream rather well and have an impressive speaker. The Bluetooth does work and I am sure your child will enjoy one, maybe I am just picky. ... show more
