We purchased this snorkel set for our grandson's 9th birthday. He has really enjoyed using it since that time. While the fins fit him OK he usually uses just the mask and snorkel. The mask fits well without leaking. He likes the fact the snorkel automatically holds water out when he dives. On occasion he feels it doesn't always allow him to breath immediately on surfacing but clears with a good exhale. This is likely an operator issue and part of the learning process for him. He has been using it in the clear fresh water lakes where we live. We plan to head to salt water later this year for him to test this out. We used this snorkel set for a trip to the Florida Keys where snorkeling at different beaches was a major part of the experience. I wasn't sure if my two sons (ages 6 and 8) would be able to snorkel, but this set was comfortable, easy to take on/off and was a huge hit with the boys!     • Good set, short snorkel, seal on mask weak.
Nice fins but a little large for my 9 year old, so they come off while swimming. Neoprene booties could help. Small foot sized? Yes. Kid foot sized? Not for the younger ones. Mask fits smaller face well and is quite good for about 6+ y.o. Seal attachment to mask is a bit tenuous. May prove to be more durable than expected, but seems like the weak point. Mask strap adjustment is easy and secure, this is a big plus with kid's swimming gear. Snorkel is good, if a bit short. The tube extends low enough that the retainer can be mounted along the snorkel in a location that makes the mouthpiece comfortable. Retainer is easy to use, but can come undone accidently. My youngest, 8, needed new mask and fins. We go snorkeling often . I was worried about the fins sizing and pinching his feet. Sizing they fit his size 4 feet just barely but stay on! Room to grow!! He says he loves the set which means a lot because if they were even the least bit uncomfortable I would hear about it. We have to hey an anti fog spray to use on the goggles but other then that sort happy with the set. Fair value for what you get. Have already used them 7+ times. ... show more

    • snorkel valve does not close
The snorkel valve (by the mouthpiece) does not close when submerged. Upon quick inspection, we can see that the valve does not sit flat because there is a ridge on the inside, so water is free to come in. It is possible this was a manufacturing defect. Too early to tell how the mask and fins are, but at least there are no huge issues like with the snorkel. UPDATE: Seller shipped a replacement set and the valve appears to sit flat, obviously much better than the first one. However, it is winter now so we cannot test it. I will update/finalize the review when we are able to test the replacement snorkel in early summer. ... show more
