Description

The Kidde Smoke Detector & Carbon Monoxide Detector Combo with 10-Year Battery, model P3010K, provides two fire safety detectors in one unit through the use of photoelectric sensing technology that senses visible fire particles, while an electrochemical sensor detects carbon monoxide. When a smoke, fire, or carbon monoxide event occurs, the Kidde fire alarm warns with an 85-decibel alarm sound & a flashing LED. The Kidde combination smoke and carbon monoxide alarm is powered by a 10-year lithium battery, which eliminates the need for battery replacement while providing coverage during a power failure. In the case of a nuisance or a false alarm, the Smart-Hush button silences the unit for approximately 8 minutes, which is helpful when this smoke detector carbon monoxide detector combo sounds from things like routine cooking or shower steam. When installed, the green LED on the alarm will flash every 60 seconds in standby condition, letting you know that the unit has power & is operating correctly. Works for about 10 years. Will chirp when it is ready for replacement. Big box store (HD) sells this in plastic retail packaging for 50% more. If you order this from Amazon (I ordered the double pack) it arrives in labeled cardboard packaging. It comes with instructions and mounting screws. I also includes the mounting plate. You screw it into your ceiling and once the plate is secure, it is a quarter turn clockwise to lock it in place and to activate. In 10+ years it will chirp and you reverse the process and buy a new one. Don't be fooled into thinking that the ones that take 9v or AA batteries will last indefinitely with battery changes... they still wear out and will chirp when they need replacement. The make is always high quality, and I like that the battery lasts many years. I forget when I bought it before, but I don't want to change the battery every year. It is not safe to do that unless you have a supply of batteries at home all the time.

So far so good. It was easy to install and they claim the battery lasts ten years. I hope they are correct. Activation was easy, all that it does is it turns on when the main unit is attached to the base. It then does a test sound. Really easy.

The previous Kidde Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detector that was installed nearly 11 years ago was beginning to chirp every minute. I did all the usual steps of changing batteries and cleaning with an air compressor, but it was obvious the unit needed to be replaced. The previous Kidde unit was a hardwired one with a battery as a backup. I chose this unit because it had the 10 year Lithium battery and was not hardwired. The installation was easy and done in just minutes. It covered the existing area of the old unit perfectly. Obviously I can't comment on the battery life, since I installed it only yesterday. I like that it does not require being hardwired. After installation I tested the unit and it works perfectly and is just as loud as the previous unit. Good purchase. I would recommend. ... show more
