  • Instructions HERE on using all three rods, for the "curtain rod" impaired (like me)
Color: Matte Black Size: 66 to 120-Inch
I like the rods very much after I figured out how to put everything together for my double window. As most other reviewers pointed out, the instructions weren't of much use. But I'm not going to let that take away from the rating, ... because I knew nothing about putting together long curtain rods but took my time and figured it out as follows. (I think some people had problems with the "extension" rod and using all three rods together, it IS possible read on) I have two windows side by side, total measurement about 71 inches. At first I used the two rods that already had the finials as it was packaged (finials is new word to me, as I said, I'm new to this!) .... It came packaged such that there was one sturdier rod with a finial and the extension rod had a finial. I believe this would be used if you needed your total rod length to be anywhere from about 45 inches (ABOUT 45, meaning greater than the length of one "fatter" rod) and less than ABOUT 90 inches (less than the length of the two "fatter" rods together). And in this case, the skinnier rod doesn't "click" into the bracket making it difficult to avoid the rods sliding apart when you "open" or move the curtain. I'm not sure what the solution is for that issue, it could be that one can secure the rods with some of the parts that were in the package, but I'm not sure. In my case, I thought if I could figure out how to use the two main rods, that would be OK since putting them together would be just a wee bit longer than I needed. But how? Using all three rods was like a puzzle to me since the instructions were extremely basic and didn't cover this. The solution: Take the finial off the extension (thinner) rod, and put it on the other "fatter" rod, (** see note on bottom - this is a little exercise in itself. ) ... then I could use all three rods, with the extension rod ... halfway inside one "main" rod and halfway inside the other - making it not visible. For the width I needed for two windows, I could use the extension rod so it is half way between both "main" rods, and the "main" rods join together. So the extension rod is functioning more as a stabilization rod. Now the rods click into the bracket. I had to use the third bracket right in the middle. (putting up the brackets was hilarious for me, as there are metal "braces" around my windows under the drywall .... between that and not hitting the studs, "oi"!) ** Finial note: When I took the finial off of the extension rod (it was there as packaged, and I had to unscrew and pull ... it wasn't exactly easy taking the finial off but it finally came off) ... anyway I tried putting it on the end of the other "main" rod and it wasn't secure. I needed a fatter "plastic thingy" that was screwed onto the finial. Oh, then I had a light bulb moment. I was wondering what those fatter "plastic screwy thingies" were for in the little plastic packet ! I thought they were real fat anchors to use in the dry wall if needed. Nope!! They were replacement "plastic thingies" for the finials. In order to put the fatter "thingy" on the finial, you have to remove one that's there, by unscrewing the screw that attaches it. Then screw in the fatter "thingy". Now the finial will fit firmly into the "main" rod (the end of the rod that has no plastic insert in it). It might take time to screw in/push the finial into the rod, just like it was when removing it as explained above. ... show more

  • Don't care about fancy curtain rods? Just need something to hold up curtains without grabbing a lot of attention? These are fine
Color: Matte Black Size: 36 to 66-Inch
First of all, they are definitely reasonably strong. When I was considering buying these curtain rods, I read some reviews saying they were very weak and probably couldn't hold anything lighter than a sheer curtain. They're pretty sturdy, considering their price. I bought two sets of 36 to 66-inch curtain rods to put across two 4' windows, with about 6" extra overlapping on the walls on each side. They are currently holding two heavy 108" blackout curtains each, and there is no issue at all. The rods themselves are very sturdy. Each pack comes with three mounting brackets, but I use two for each window because the window goes straight to the ceiling and there is nowhere to mount them, lol. I would say the weakest link in the chain is the mounting brackets. They're more than strong enough to hold curtains, before you start to worry. But they are just a single folded strip of metal. They will bend if you purposely apply force. But that is perfectly fine. I can't imagine you accidentally bending them without doing it on purpose. Personally, I feel like if you needed to hang anything too heavy for these curtain rods to handle, you wouldn't be looking at the low priced curtain rods on amazon. You'd know you need something strong. Installing was fine. I pre-measured where I wanted the curtain rods to go. Drill holes for the top screw on the mount. Installed the two brackets and put in one of the curtain rods. Made sure they were positioned correctly, and aligned straight. Then marked where the bottom screw needed to go with a pencil. Removed the mounts. Drilled the holes for the bottom screws. Then finished installing the brackets and curtain rods. Maybe I was a little extra finicky, because I wanted to make sure they would be correctly aligned and the curtain rods fit exactly straight? That's just me. The instructions are very simple and under-detailed; just drill two holes, stick in the plastic screw anchors, and screw in the mounts. You'd probably be fine either way, as long as you made sure to measure and mark carefully beforehand. The only issue I had with installing the curtain rods, had nothing to do with the curtain rods themselves. Because my windows go completely to the ceiling, and I wanted to use blackout curtains, it meant installing the curtain rods as high as I could. And there is a limit to how high you can install a curtain rod before you have trouble using a screwdriver to install the brackets lol. Plus reaching that high, and angling your body to drill at the side of the window, is a bit of a challenge. Absolutely no problems otherwise. I was happy to find out the curtains don't catch on the overlap of the adjustable curtain rod. I thought I'd have to get some electrical tape to smooth it over so they wouldn't get stuck. But I haven't had any problems, which is really nice. One of the main reasons I picked these curtain rods over others, is because they are very simple looking. Some of the other cheap curtain rods had screws that stick out (to hold the curtain rods in place), and they were very ugly (unless you're going for an industrial look). These ones don't stick out. They aren't meant to. I just wanted simple curtain rods to hold some curtains, and they do the job well. So I would suggest these to anyone who isn't mounting anything RIDICULOUSLY heavy, and just needs something simple and practical to hold their curtains. ... show more

  • Flimsy
Color: Matte Black Size: 66 to 120-Inch
It does the job, but it is so flimsy, the rod easily falls off. If you are not going to open and close curtains then this is for you. If you want to open and close curtains then look for something else.

  • Easy to install
Color: Matte Black Size: 36 to 66-Inch
these were pretty easy to install and work perfect for my guestroom. the anchors are not the best though. I also suggest putting the top screw in first so you can flip the bracket upside down to install easier

  • Brackets are sharp, flimsy, and fiddly to install.
Color: Matte Black Size: 66 to 120-Inch
I bought this to have a double-rod and wanted cheaper than the others listed. Unfortunately I got what I wanted. The rods themselves are ok, just ok. The brackets are cheap, thin, flimsy and have sharp edges. They were also a bit difficult to install. You have to press it down with one hand while screwing into the upper slot. They also don’t appear to be aligned properly, like they came out angled. In fairness I used existing holes, and they are mostly covered by the curtain anyway. I think I’ll spring for a better set of brackets. ... show more

  • Not for curtain rod novices
Color: Matte Black Size: 66 to 120-Inch
It doesn’t come with instructions to add the extender- it took me a while to figure it out… you take the decorative end off the thinner piece and then slip the two bigger ends on the sides then add the decorative end to the thicker side. label stickers or a diagram would have saved me a lot of time. Other than that instal to the wall was easy and the hardware and pieces seem sturdy enough for the price. ... show more

  • No way to tighten rod to brackets
Color: Matte Black Size: 66 to 120-Inch
There is no way to tighten the rod to stay on the brackets. Every time I open my very thin sheers the rod moves with them and slides out a good 6-9 inches. I have to get on a chair to hold the rod in place while I adjust my sheers every single time, which is not easy as my curtains are 95 inches long. The rod is supposed to snap into the bracket but it does not and I've tried!! These are going back and I'll be using a sturdier rod with a screw adjusting bracket. ... show more
