  • Tough and well built
Very sturdy product. Came with an amazing edge on it. Just wasnt expecting quit the sharp edge on something like this. Not a thin metal but chunky and durable.

  • Pretty good tool but not as effective as a hori hori knife for weeding
Yesterday, we had torrential rains after a dry spell, so I knew my vegetable garden would be rife with new weeds today, providing the perfect opportunity to test out this Kemaier garden trowel that falls somewhere between a traditional trowel and a Japanese-style hori hori knife. This thing is a bit of a brute—quite heavy in the hand and roughly but strongly welded together. It is broader and about two inches shorter than a hori hori knife, but it does have measurements up the middle for gauging hole depth. Unlike a traditional trowel, it has honed smooth blades on either side of its pointy tip and one serrated edge up top. I tried out all its features as I went after wire grass, little thorny weeds, dandelions, and pesky wisteria vines creeping into my garden. None of the blades were not as sharp as I expected, and it took me longer to saw through the wisteria vines with the serrated edge than it does with a hori hori. It also was less effective at digging under wire grass and dandelions and severing their roots with the pointed tip. Moreover, the breadth of the trowel reduced the precision of my digging, making me worry about accidentally damaging tomato and pepper roots as I cleared nearby weeds. For digging a wide hole or shoveling soil, though, this trowel is perfectly fine. It's also sturdy as all get-out, and I'm sure it will last for years. I'm glad to have this trowel, but it's not my favorite garden tool, which remains a hori hori knife. ... show more

  • Looking for a high quality trowel? Look no further!
This Kemaier trowel is the real deal. A lot of garden “tools” are more like toys, breaking easily under stress or made with shoddy craftsmanship that just barely gets the job done. Not so here. This trowel is listed as “heavy-duty,” and the description fits. In my opinion, the most important feature of a trowel is an often overlooked one, the connecting piece between the handle and blade. This is the area that often wears our first, bending and breaking. I won’t need to worry about that with this tool, so I’m already impressed. That's not all the Kemaier has to offer though, as it comes complete with features I didn’t even know I needed. The blade on this puppy is sharp. (I mean knife sharp!) Do NOT let kids get ahold of this thing, seriously. I’ve been out of town for a few weeks and the garden was significantly overgrown when I put this to the test, and let me tell you, I am very pleased! My tough mountain soil was no match for the sharp blade and thick stainless steel, and it made short work of any pesky roots from weeds. The serrated blade was able to lop off a rose bush stem with ease. Working with the trowel in hand for at least an hour, the handle was comfortable, and the weight manageable for a tool of this kind. If I was required to pick one thing I don’t particularly like, a hole in the handle to hang on a pegboard in my garden shed would be nice. If you’re the kind of person who often says “they don’t make things like they used to,” buy this trowel and be impressed that at least in this case… they do! ... show more

  • Sharp and powerful!
The media could not be loaded. I got this Kemaier trowel to remove the weeds and aerate the soil for my potted plants, where regular hoes do not fit. It is easy to use and comfortable to hold. It has sharp teeth that can cut through weeds. It has inch measurements, which are useful when I plant seeds to make sure I place them at the recommended depth in the soil. I took off one star since it developed some rust at the edges. This is a very useful tool in the garden, and I would recommend it to a friend! ... show more

  • Excellent, heavy duty, Includes measurements
I have never even seen this nice of a garden shovel. It is heavy duty! Sharp! Has a saw blade and a measuring device. I highly recommend this saw for avid gardeners!

  • Perfect in the garden
This trowel is exactly what I needed for my garden and weeding. I have some areas that are gravel and some that is really hard packed dirt. This trowel made quick work of those areas with its sharp pointed edge. After 30 minutes of work in these hard packed areas it was still very sharp. I also appreciate the measurements on the trowel for when I'm digging to plant starts or seeds. This is a great addition to my garden tools. ... show more

  • Sharp and doesn't bend
This garden trowel is sharp. I love the many different uses for the tool and the fact it hasn't bent or broken. Most I use end up bending. This trowel is fantastic and I use it often. I suggest if you want a sharp garden tool to dig with buy this. The sawlike blade on the side helps cut through the dirt/roots easily. ... show more

  • Super Sharp Trowel!!
This trowel is GREAT!! I am so tired of the lame aluminum trowel that can't cut through anything harder than butter!! This thing is so crazy sharp, you actually need to be a bit careful with it... I totally love that it makes my gardening chores so much faster and easier... The stainless steel construction should make it last a long time too! It is a little heavier than my other trowels but it doesn't seem to make it more tiring to use. It really just underscores how unbelievably heavy duty and sturdy it is... Other than the lack of a hole in the handle for easier hanging up, I would say it is pretty close to perfect!! ... show more
