  • Incredibly poor manufacturing
Size: 10 Color: Shitake/Brindle
This is my first set of Keens having used Merrell's for the past few years. They are a heavier boot than anticipated but in general were still comfortable for daily use. The issue (and reason for 1 star) is that the right side of the sole almost completely separated from the upper after a little less than two months (Aug 6 - Sep 29). Even though I was outside of the return window Amazon sent a replacement pair which I received Oct 1. Upon reviewing the same seam you can see the adhesive is missing in spots and if you apply any inward pressure to the upper that the seam is going to separate again. After hearing so many good reviews on Keens (friends, family, websites) I expected a much higher quality boot only to be very thoroughly disappointed. Kudos to Amazon though on handling the situation! ... show more

  • Potentially second hand boots? *Update on second pair*
Well.. I got my boots in today. I was excited because I finally have some real hiking boots as I've always used my military boots and realized it was time to have a dedicated pair. Now, here's the thing..I filed for an exchange as soon as I saw the boots and this is why. First off, I get that their hiking boots and that it's a leather material so anything that touches it is going to scar it up. Unfortunately, the pair I got looks like someone got it, wore it for a bit, and then returned it. It's as simple as that. The reason I think they were returned is because it was marked up with scratches and already looked like it was broken in already. Also, the sole doesn't look like it'll stay together for very long. It might just be me, and I get that this is Amazon and if something doesn't fit right or doesn't meet someone's expectation, they return it. To be honest, I could keep them and call it a day, but the fact that I'm questioning them, especially for the price that I paid and the amount of stress that will potentially be put on them, I figure it would be best to be safe and not sorry. I added some pics of what I was talking about, so you can be the judge of whether I'm wasting my time exchanging them or not. Can't wait to get the new pair and get them on the ground! I'll update again when they come in. *Update* Got the second pair really fast! Only downside is that they were worse than the first pair...lol. look. I just want a new pair or a spot that doesn't look like someone took them for a spin then decided they didn't want them back. If you look at the second group of pics(I know they all look similar) the toe has what looks like hot glue on it and overall the shoes look dingy. If you buy these shoes, I'm sure they're great. I'm just not happy that the couple pairs that I received both looked broken in and i can't say this is neither Amazon's or keens fault, it's just my luck of the draw. My biggest disappointment is that I now have to return 2 pairs of these and I can't even get a refund..only option was a Amazon gift card. I'm now not only going to have to head to REI or someplace equivalent (which is what I should've done in the first place), but I also won't receive an actual refund for these.. *Bottom line* If you decide on getting these, just expect that they most likely have been tried on and walked around or hiked in by other people which means the $130+ you pay for these may possibly be for second hands that might not look as nice as you hoped. ... show more

  • Beware!
Size: 17 Color: Shitake/Brindle
New boots fell apart before end of 8 day backpack trip. I was referred to Keen by a friend who has used Targhee II Mid Waterproof Hiking Boot for years. I spent approximately 16 hours on mild hiking trails to break these boots in for my trip. few days prior to trip I noticed the uppers were beginning to separate from the soles, so I bought some shoe cement to touch them up because I did not have time for an alternate pair. Before the end of the 8 day trip the uppers on one had ripped away exposing 3 inches of the inside of my boot and the other 3 sides of both pairs were about to tear as well. My backpack partners supposed waterproof Targhee II put him in a precarious situation of soaked feet in below freezing weather. I count recommend or trust this brand. Even worse - Keen replaced the boots and out of the box the seal between the uppers and soles are inconsistent and appear to be ready to start the Keen glue degeneration as soon as I put them to light use! I called and they were unwilling to refund monies so I could by a more reliable brand! Don't have to be kicked by this mule twice to know to stay away :( Additionally, I've bought shoes for probably 45 years and their sizes did not come close to all the multitudes of shoes and brands I have purchased. There are other reviews similar - BEWARE! ... show more

  • I was very pleased with the first pair
Size: 10.5 Color: Black Olive/Yellow
This is my second pair of these boots. I was very pleased with the first pair. The current pair has not done very well at all. I just purchased them in November and it is May (6 months) now and the bottoms are falling apart. I’m trying to get in touch with Keen to see if they will send me a pair of replacement boots. I think that I should get more than six months wear from a premium pair of boots. I would expect a cheap pair of boots from a discount store to wear out this quick but not a $100 + pair of boots. 😡 ... show more

  • Don’t waste your money
Size: 9.5 Color: Black Olive/Yellow
These boots were highly recommended for people with bad knees. I bought them for a family member as a 61st birthday gift. When he went to walk in the boots the whole inside shifted with each step. So his feet were not stable. The tongue seemed short. I bought these as a gift however, due to the pandemic, I was not able to give him the boots and keen insoles( that were too wide) until after the 30 day return period ended. I spent a month calling Keene daily with no answer. Went on their website. Tried the help button, that was not working. I sent several emails not were never answered. I am very disappointed in the quality of the Keene products and their customer service. I now have defective products totaling over 100.00 that I cannot use. I will never buy this companies products again and will discourage anyone thinking about buying from them from wasting their money. ... show more

  • 3 failures on 3 pairs
Size: 11.5 Color: Shitake/Brindle
This is my third pair of Keens in a row that have failed. Two sets of soles had glue failures and came off . On my current pair the shoe laces eyes broke. Keens customer service didn't seem to care and wouldn't help. I have had no other shoe failures during that time. I wouldn't recommend Keen, thier priced like a quality product but built cheaply and don't stand buy thier product. ... show more
