My combination skin can get dry in spots and so I feel like I need to exfoliate at least a couple of times a week to make my skin feel like it can breathe. I've used several other exfoliants and had various levels of success. This particular one worked very well right from the beginning. It did not dry out my skin but it made it very smooth and felt great afterwards. It's just a cleaner / wash So you don't have to leave it on overnight for it to work. It's very gentle does not have a strong abrasive. It does have a very nice citrusy scent that's not too overpowering. But if you don't like any scents at all, you might not appreciate fragrance. I’ll start out by saying that yes, I know. It’s expensive AF. I’m in the Army and by no means rich. It was a Prime Day deal, though, so I went for it. I’m hooked!!! The bottle is tall and thin so doesn’t take up a huge profile in my shower. You literally only need like a pea sized amount…which I didn’t believe in the reviews, but it’s true. It lathers SO amazingly and feels soooo good when you put it on. It feels lightweight, like it’s not gonna work…but it works amazingly and I don’t ever have any makeup come off on the cotton pad I use afterwards for toner. And I wear very thick foundation and eye makeup btw… I have seborrheic dermatitis and it’s helped so much….no more red spots by my nose! I also have extremely sensitive eyes and it’s doesn’t make them burn whatsoever and I don’t wake up with crust on my eyes. And it smells wonderful…very light scented. I'm slowly but surely falling in love with everything that is Kate Somerville. I originally tried her ExfoliKate exfoliator and I do really like that. I liked it so much that I decided to give her face wash a try as well. First let me say it smells amazing. It smells like tea, specifically.. a mix of orange pekoe and earl grey (you can definitely smell bergamot in it). I love it. It's a light fragrance, so if you're sensitive to stuff like that, it shouldn't be an issue. It smells natural, not chemically or synthetic. Anyway, this stuff comes out like a paste. It's very different from any face wash I've used. It's almost like a super concentrated paste, because you need very very little of it. Just a tiny pea-sized dot will cover my face and neck, so this stuff will last you quite a while. It isn't terribly foaming like the name suggests, but it does get the job done and makes your skin feel clean. But the most impressive part about this face wash is how smooth and soft it makes your skin feel! I have never used a face wash that has made my skin feel like that. It truly is amazing. I know this stuff is really expensive, like a lot of Kate Somerville's stuff, but this here is very much worth it. I like this even better than I like the exfoliator, and I really like that stuff. It's worth the splurge. If you're unsure, try and get a sample or just buy the travel sized version of this to test it out. You'll love it. Would work great on both dry or oily skin - I have normal to dry skin, and it doesn't dry me out at all. ... show more

    • Great For Rosacea!

My rosacea is mild and my face is very sensitive, but this ExfoliKate Cleanser is fabulous! When I first received this product, I will admit that I was concerned about the size--- smaller than I had hoped it would be. However, I have found that a very (very!!!) small amount goes a long way. I'd estimate that I'm using only about the size of a large pea, and surprisingly, that is enough to cover my face and even down my neck (with a bit of water to get it going.) It gets creamier and bubbles a bit-- I just use my fingertips most days, and only a baby washcloth on the rare occasion. My skin doesn't feel tight or stripped afterwards, and I don't detect any "beads" as one might in other exfoliating products. The product directions state to use this twice a day, but that might be too much for my face. I am currently using it every-other or every third time that I wash my face. I will consider this my Summer cleanser as it does help with dirt/oil/sweat a bit more than any of my milk-based, mild Winter cleansers. This is my first experience with Kate Somerville and I'm very pleased! A fabulous cleanser! ... show more

I have been using this product since the beginning of the year and have been able to remove and keep black heads and sebum build up off my pores. Which ultimately has reduced the size of my pores. I have very sensitive skin and this gentle wash does the job perfectly without damaging my skin. Worth every penny.
