I first received a empty box from a third party seller, but I called Amazon and spoke with Ana, she was terrific and made everything right and got me a replacement reel. Now for the reel itself, it is by far one of the smoothest reels I have ever picked up. It has a nice feel in your hands, it's not too big for a 200, and it's definitely nothing like a low profile reel. I paired it up with a Zuess duckett medium crank rod. It's rock solid. The longer handle is a great addition. Looks great on a Cadence Heavy rod with red highlights. I spooled it up with 50lb, 8 strand Reaction braid, added 6 feet of 20lb Vanish as a leader, and I'm ready. The drag seems smooth enough, though I haven't hooked it up to a big fish yet. It fits the hand nicely, not bulky or too tall. Hand fatigue and big lures can be problematic. It handled a 1 1/2 oz swimbait easily, casting it very nicely, it only took 3 casts to dial it in, pretty much backlash free from there. It's hard to beat a reel like this for a price like this, and if you don't want to spend well over $100 for something built to do this reel's job, you'd do well to invest your fishing dollar here ... show more

This is my first baitcaster and I am excited to learn how to fish with it. Reel is well made, smooth in operation and lightweight. I did need to add some lubrication but it is always good to take a new reel down so you understand it and can easily do maintainance in the future without hesitation.

The Royale Legend II 200 by KastKing. I couldn't wait to get my hands on this reel! Well packaged and undamaged upon arrival. After unboxing and verifying the contents. - Royale Legend II 200 Reel - Instruction Manual - Parts List and Diagram - Loyalty Program Warranty Card - KastKing Sticker - Stickers for Line Size and Date Spooled - QR Code Coupon for Super Power Braided Line The instruction manual is clearly written and broken down into sections which will allow for an experienced user or someone new to using a baitcasting reel to easily understand and the text isn't so small that you can't read it. I spooled this reel with Superpower 30lb Braid by KastKing...It is what I have on hand and what I use on all of my reels regardless of the brand. The side plate is removable making spool access easy and has a nice latch keeping it locked in place. All of the adjustments for the reel are clearly marked and easily accessed. The reel isn't over or undersized and feels comfortable in my hand. The retrieve handle is well made and ample in size for small and larger hands and is not slippery. The body and the spool release are some kind of plastic/polymer but in no way feels cheap or flimsy. It has nice solid feel and a smooth cast. I would certainly recommend this reel to anyone looking for an Excellent Value in Quality Fishing Gear. ... show more

I always used spincast reels. Wanted to try the baitcaster because of reduced weight. Baught the Kastking Legend. Got spooled once. Went to the 200. Held more line. Stronger drag. Baitcast reels are stronger, faster, don't twist the line and are much smotther and lighter than spincast reels. They feel like part of the rod. I brought in a 25+ pound catfish with the legend, 6.5' med/heavy ugly stick and 12 pound test. Now I have the 200's same rod with 17 pound cajun line. I use a 2oz sinker and rooster liver. Easy to cast easy to reel. With the braking system it reduces backlash. I run it just a click loose. Haven't caught any 60 pounders yet but I know these rods and reels are up for it. I did discover the lack of grease from the factory. Get yourself some good grease and maintenace supplies. Happy fishing ... show more

WHY DID THE SPARTACUS MAXIMUS 200 BE DISCONTINUED!!!! I love that reel and would happily pay 100 for it. Anyway, I've had many KK reels. Some last a long time, some don't. But this is to be expected for inexpensive oem reels. What always bugs me are the ratings like 22lbs of drag. I was able to get about 14lbs. Now that is still a very useful amount but this reel sort of hits a wall when trying to lock down the drag. It feels like something must be flexing like the side plate. Other than that its smooth and works as it should. The Maximus has great drag and its aluminum. I miss that reel so much. ... show more
