Pretty smooth on the retrieve and cast, took me a little getting used to as I use 30lb braid on it and the feel is different than fluorocarbon to me. This reel on the Berkley 7' Amp rod makes a great combo for casting relatively far off the bank at least 30-40ft out sometimes a little further. All-in-all great reel. ... show more

Good reel, smooth and functions properly. The only complaint I have is the shaft seems a little short and will pop your knuckles when reeling in if your not careful. Otherwise it's a great reel.
