  • I needed a wheelchair with a seat that reclines
This wheelchair is less compact and heavier then our ultralight transport and full size wheelchair. It is also harder to fit in the back of a compact SUV. But it is the best wheelchair I've found simply because the seat back can be reclined to any position. My mom is unable to sit in a regular chair and the moment she sits in a standard wheelchair she begs me to put the seat back but the chairs we have don't recline. The last time we went to the doctor it was a horrible experience for her. We took the Karman KM5000F18 chair to the doctor yesterday and it was so much better for her. I was able to recline the seat back to a position where she was comfortable. She didn't complain once about the chair and even feel asleep while we were waiting. It was a bit more difficult to maneuver in the elevator and the bathroom at the doctor's office because the leg rests are always extended slightly and I haven't found a way to bring them down so that they are 90 degrees to the seat/floor. This Karman chair is much sturdier then the other Drive chairs that we own. The seat is much more supportive too. But to be fair the Drive chairs cost much less and the quality seems to be in line with the cost of each chair. For me the Karman KM5000F18 is money well spent. ... show more

  • Wrong WC purchased based on Erroneous Information from Karman Healthcare Staff
I saw this wheelchair at Karman Healtcare.com described as KM 5000 18 (seat width). On the Karman web page, I was directed to buy at Amazon. At Amazon, it was listed as Karman KM 5000f 18. 1) I called Karman and customer service person told me that the seat height was adjustable. Was told, "yes". I asked what, was the difference between the KM 5000f on Amazon's web page and the KM 5000 18 that I saw on Kaman's web site. I went to Amazon and purchased the chair. 2) The manual that came with the wheelchair says that the seat height can be adjusted. But it can't. When my brother sits in it, his feet don't reach the floor. Now you tell me that it is not returnable. I have photos of the manual that came with the wheelchair and the page (12) that stated the the seat height can be adjusted. ... show more
