I can finally review this as the gift has been given. My tween-aged great niece is an aspiring recording artist (and honestly, she's pretty good) but she's been begging for a karaoke machine for a while now. I got this one because it already had some pretty good reviews, and it's compact even with 2 mics. She was THRILLED when she opened it and we were treated to an impromptu rendition of some of her favorite songs, complete with dance numbers and an accompanying light show. The unit came partially charged, so she was able to play with it right away. Once she was done serenading us, we were able to sit down and figure out everything it came with and how to adjust things like the reverb and the volume. The sound is surprisingly good for such a small speaker, and it can serve as just a Bluetooth speaker on its own once it's hooked up to your phone. The instruction manual was a little sparse, but it was intelligible with a little effort. We discovered that the mics have several voice changing options, which resulted in the adults present getting into a silly voice contest, wherein we wound up having to send the kids outside due to language, but we all had a pretty good time. Overall, I think this is a fun unit. It does take an adult to get it all set up and going, but once it's set up it's easy enough for a 10 year old to use. Personally I think this is a great gift for kids or teenagers who love karaoke, or even an adult if they like bright, kid friendly colors. It's certainly got great sound, and it's small enough it could be placed somewhere unobtrusive if it doesn't match your decor. Value-wise, it's fabulous. I have my own karaoke machine I paid a lot more for and it doesn't sound near as good. ... show more
