  • Greatest Speaker I've ever owned and I'm 43
Style: SRS-XP700
First of all this is Sara's husband leaving his first and only product review. My wife doesn't care about speakers because she's a woman, but I do. And I will tell you, this is the greatest speaker I've ever owned. Just buy it and thank me later. I told my buddies do yourself a favor and treat yourself for Christmas, you've earned it. I bought this to replace my 7 year old Sony speaker and thought it was the same one. It definitely is not. I tested this bad boy out and I can hear it down the block, my neighbors will probably start sending me thank you letters for playing Shoot to Thrill to get them amped up for the day. The sound quality is perfect, the bass is like a full body experience. Having a bad day? Then take a shower with your speaker and get all those negative emotions out. Having a good day? Make it even better. Just buy the speaker boys. And no I'm not paid by Sony to say this, but I probably should be. ... show more

  • Unbeatable at this price pount
Style: SRS-XP700
I placed this Sony boombox at the end on our 70 feet long front porch and we all can enjoy a crisp clear cutting edge sound. The Bluetooth feature in connection with the two Sony apps for sound and Lightshow work like a breeze. I am a musician and this Sony boom box is one of the few which plays my recordings in an almost audiophile quality. My BOSE Soundsystem looks pretty poor here in comparison. I left the EQ Settings like they are. Not necessary to involve Mega Bass so far. Loudness can be fine tuned either via my iPad or via the Sony app. The Lightshow feature is a fancy add on, might make sense for any party crowd. The haptic and material building quality are top notch. It is heavy, yes, which to me is simply a sign of high quality. A remote control becomes obsolete because of the Sony apps. Out from a distance of over 50 feet I am able to tweak the settings, fantastic! I play all kind of synths, from entire string orchestra emulations to Hammond B3, flutes, drum kits, guitars and the like. This Sony boombox gives the most detailed referential soundscape, very close to my Edifier and Yamaha high end studio monitors. My neighbors are positively overwhelmed when listening to my tracks through this Sony SRS-XP 700. No complaints at all. My reputation as a neighborhood studio musician has skyrocketed from Zero to 100 within half an hour. There are numerous serious reviews by pros one can read before buying this boom box. Whatever this term “boom box” means anyway. To me this is an audiophile system of its own. I will also use it for all our party events, indoor and outdoors. I guess that due to its unique speaker configuration, it creates spacious soundscapes like when they are meant to be with a touch of reverberation effect whenever applied to in my recordings. Sony did an outstanding job here, undoubtedly they did. ... show more

  • Sony srs-xp700 vs JBL partybox 310
Style: SRS-XP700
Let's be honest, you're probably looking at the Sony xp700 because the JBL partybox 310 is sold out and because it's now $100 less than the JBL. Well, the JBL is indeed a better "party' speaker. Much better/deeper bass at volume, better light features, easier to transport with the wheels and telescoping handle, and it even has a hole for a speaker stand, meaning you can elevate it over a dance floor and project the sound further. If your primary use case is throwing medium to large dance parties or hosting events, hands down go with the JBL. Keep in mind, neither speakers have RCA or XLR inputs, so if you're trying to start a side-hustle as a DJ, neither speaker will be the best choice, but the JBL is the closest to an amateur DJ speaker. However, the Sony is actually a better "casual" speaker. IMO, it looks less ostentatious and more classy/understated than the JBL, with a more subtle light feature. It looks good and will aesthetically work just about anywhere, from a formal social event to a casual house party with friends. It has better sound quality at low volumes and simply a greater range of lower volume levels. Meaning, if you want softer background music during a dinner or a social event, the Sony will give you a wider range of volume levels to work with, whereas the JBL wants to blast music as loud as possible. Further, I feel the Sony has a more balanced sound and is just more usable for a wider range of situations, barring loud raves or crazy dance parties. The Sony also offers better battery life, and has battery saving features, which means the battery might last longer than the JBL over the years, since it will need fewer charge cycles. In conclusion, if you're a wanna be DJ, just looking to host dance parties and basement raves, stick the JBL. However, if you're like most people, and you want a good speaker for a wide range of situations, from listening to music in your living room, to throwing a birthday party, to hosting a formal cocktail event on your patio, the Sony is the more versatile option, aside from not having ANY audio out jack to daisy chain with different brand speakers and not being able to mount it on a speaker stand. Overall, a decent buy as long as it's less than the JBL. AND COME ON SONY, GIVE US SOME VERSATILITY AND LET US USE SPEAKER STANDS AND AUDIO OUTPUTS!!! ... show more

  • Sony SRS-XP700
Style: SRS-XP700
The media could not be loaded. I’ve been looking for a good speaker so far I love what I got! The design and the sound quality, overall is great! I read a lot of reviews that the weight is kind of little heavy but for me I don’t have any problems about it.
