  • Budget audiophile grade powered speakers for music lovers
5 stars. This is a budget “audiophile grade” powered speakers with right setup This is my HiFi combo set Raspberry Pi 3a+ powered by Volumio latest version Syba SD-DAC63115 DAC IsoAucoustics ISO-130 speaker stand Kanto YU Vocals from YU are warm and has a good image. Soundstage is not very wide but still “sound coming from the speakers box outside” Mids and highs is very crispy. It is very good for listening some Acoustics music such as piano, gittar etc. bass is punchy but lack of sub bass due to size of the speakers, but listening R&B music is not bad. EG: Another day in Paradise by Brandy, YU provides rich & rhythm sound. You will sing with Brandy & Ray J Unconsciously. :) Overall Kanto YU provides soft and Melodious sound. It is enough power to fill a 200 sq. feet living room full of music It is suitable for listening most of pop, rock & vocals music but classical cause soundstage not wide enough. This is the first time for me to buy a powered speakers, I have a pair Stirling LS3/5 a V2 BBC monitor. Kanto do the great job with reasonable price, respected. It is a starter for guy who wants to listen “real audiophile sound”, not Apple HomePod ... show more

  • Very important-Use Amazon Music for HD and Super HD for awesome and clear sound!
I tried four outdoors bluetooth speakers first, but they all had problems until someone suggested a shelf speaker. I really wanted it more for my living room than outside anyway. It came down to going for the best sound. So, I came across Kanto YU shelf speakers which has top of the line APTX Bluetooth, standby mode, has wires between speakers for better connection, and is recommended for Smartphones. I have iPhone XS. 1) Get Amazon Music instead of Youtube first thing (3 month free trial)- Major difference! 2) Then place speakers on table height above floor about 15' apart, each facing towards you. 3) Adjust base and treble and keep balance midrange. Not too much base! ... show more

  • Too Glitchy
Update 1: I had this speaker for less than 30 days and I am experiencing my first round of issues. In particular there are two problems: 1) The speaker auto-on will randomly not work. When this happens the selection knob also does not work. The only way to have the speaker work is by using the remote to turn the unit on. After this is done, Auto-On/Off will work ok for a questionable amount of time. 2) At certain times when the unit is operating/playing music the selection knob will not function. When this happens I cannot change the volume or inputs. Once again the only way to get this functioning is to use the remote. I reached out to the Amazon support team and they have opted to send me a replacement unit. Fingers crossed this works otherwise I will be stuck with some temperamentally working speakers... Update 2: The replacement began having the same problem. After contacting Kanto they want me to pay to ship the speaker back. $30 shipping for a $200 speaker... uh no thanks. I cannot recommend this speaker and have this lowered the rating to 1 star. It’s important to go into this review with the right mindset. No, it will not outperform the sound quality of passive bookshelf speakers double the price (ie Motion 15s or B&W 706s) or even the same price, but they do offer a nice well rounded package. On to the review! Build Build is subpar, but acceptable for the price. The cabinet finish is decent and would rival offerings from Klipsch. The matte finish is not a lawyer but is actually a vinyl sticker (think ikea). The volume knob is plastic and the remote feels pretty standard w/ soft touch that will feel gummy in a couple years. For connections, the binding posts are pretty unrobust but will accept 12 gauge bare wire or standard banana plugs. It’s nice that Kanto builds the power transformer into the speaker unlike the AudioEngine A2. Sound Quality Sound is decent though like most mention, bass is subpar. For YouTube videos, etc. the sound is ok. When listening to music I found adding an 8” sub with crossover set to 80hz to complement the low end nicely. One thing that does bug me coming from higher end audio are the vocals (highs) seem a bit truncated. It almost sounds like the part of the vocal range is missing. The biggest shortcoming I have found is subpar stereo imaging. This may be due to me missing the S4 stands. I will update if sound improves with these stands. Connectivity Connections are decent, what you see is what you get. Bluetooth is very robust and I get signal all around my house. I notice absolutely no “white noise” when the speakers are idle or on standby. Overall This setup will give you very decent sound and even more so with a small sub. No it won’t outperform nicer bookshelf speakers but the overall package with auto-off and built in amp is very nice. Considering these should sound the same as the YU4 I would save $70 unless you must have phono/optical inputs or the extra covers offered. ... show more

  • Great budget speakers.
These are great speaker to use either with bluetooth or with a rca to 3.5 cable. They fill a small room, bass by itself is not so strong but I use with the Kanto Sub 8 (could off gone with the 6) and its great for music or watch movies or immersive gaming.

  • satisfied
Audio Advice answered some questions about a Denon turntable I had that wasn't being used. It did help that I read up on the specific turntable (Denon site) and knew a little more about it when I asked them about what would give me sound for the turntable. Power speakers and these are very satisfying. Handles my old vinyl and will work with bluetooth. Kanto YU was a win for me. Small space available, sound from a turntable that had been sitting around for years collecting dust and using old vinyl! ... show more

  • Good Budget Speakers
I like them a lot. Paired them with a dac so I could connect to my PC over USB with these. Good sound, bass is what you'd expect from speakers this size. Recommend buying a subwoofer. Look great.

  • really really good speakers
these are pretty, well built speakers, that have a very pleasant sound signature. i have a sacs9 sub added and the sound is comparable to my hd6xx headphones. I have had Focal systems and the Focals are more detailed and highs are brighter. that being said if you want true hi fidelity you should buy a dedicated amp and nice passive speakers; as well as room acoustic treatment. IF space is a premium or you just want a really nice sounding second setup these are fantastic for the price. ... show more
