  • Not Quite the Original
First off, I bought the Kala Archtop when it first came out, I had a per-order in for it. It s a beautiful looking instrument, stunning. I ordered this one thinking it was the same, it is listed as the same, but it is a little different. . The original has a beautiful satin finish, but this is due to a veneer. This version has a mat finish and is a bit darker in color on the entire instrument. This may have been a design change as the bridge on my original pulled free shortly after warranty time and it was discovered the way it was installed created instability in the instrument causing the bridge to pull out and breaking the underlying plywood surface. This new, one piece solid face should not have that issue. Also, the original has inlay work and a palm tree on the fret-board, This one does not. It plays well acoustically, I plugged it in and it was nice and clean electrically as well, and no buzz. I was not initially thrilled when I opened the box dues to the changes, but it has grown on me. It may not be as pretty as the first version, but it does seem more solid. ... show more

  • Buzzing Noise and No Palm Tree
When played quietly it sounds fine, but once you start playing louder there is a buzzing noise that is annoying and can be heard on recordings. Also, every model I've seen has had the palm tree design on the fret board and mine didn't have that. The tone is bright and it is a decent instrument, I would just like to know about the issues with mine. ... show more

  • kala uke
the kala arctop uke is an excellent player sounds great amplified, the string were set correctly upon receiving it, only thing is the battery sure wears out quickly other than that is is great

  • Beauti-lele
Seriously beautiful ukulele. High-sheen sunburst finish. The strings are a heavier weight than the soprano and concert ukes we already had around the house, so that could do a number on your fingers if they're used to lighter strings. The sound is quite good, as well. Haven't had a chance to try it out with an amp just yet. ... show more

  • GOOD BUT REQUIRES ADJUSTMENT
Great sound...electronics ... appearance but would have been perfect if action was a bit lower. Requires professional adjustment for better playability.
