  • Wow
This has answered SO many questions about so much of my equipment. I've been able to track down excess heat accumulation in my computers, insulation gaps in my windows, and find places in the building that aren't sealed or well insulated. Of course that's regular IR camera stuff. I really *REALLY* want to give this camera five stars. It is just amazing on so many fronts but falls short on many others. It has a huge potential that it's just not living up to, but most of these shortcomings can be corrected in software updates, which I *really* hope the company provides. Positives: -Registers as a USB drive when plugged in to the computer, all system files accessible, very mod-friendly. It's also very smartly an Android device with a custom overlay, so someone that knows their way around Android will be able to unlock a lot of powerful use. -Super fast updating! 25hz is no joke amazing. -Very good internal storage size. -Excellent feature set and very responsive, usable menus. You can tell a lot of thought has gone into making the software work well; for instance, the Settings menu has a search bar so you can find what you're looking for without hunting. That is AMAZING. -Tripod mount! Very cool. But a bit of a waste at the moment. Downsides: -Hardware would be really nice if it had two hardware features; one, an SD card slot. Wifi cloud store is cool but of limited use. -No accommodation for a lens cover and no built-in external shutter. Having a carrying case is nice but it would be nicer to be able to slip it into a pocket without worry. Software: -No video recording! Why! 25hz is absolutely the *STAR* feature of this device and I can't use it to make videos? There's enough space on the camera that it could save them off as a series of uncompressed bitmaps from the IR sensor and still have plenty of recording time. -No timelapse! Really! Such a basic feature. This is what makes the tripod mount slightly redundant. Being able to set up the camera and have it take pictures overnight would be perfect for monitoring attics, pipes - any kind of machinery that has an autonomous duty cycle. - Doesn't connect with its desktop app, very little instructions. Supposedly the desktop app can be used to record video from the camera and unlock other features (though having to have it plugged in to a computer is suboptimal) but currently I can't get it working. - The rangefinder only reports to the nearest meter. That's a shame, it would be nice to be able to use it as a reference tool for measurement. The rangefinder is almost certainly more accurate; it would be nice to be able to enable reporting in cm or mm. - Can only connect to the company's cloud servers for storage. Why? I would love to be able to configure this to upload to my local NAS, or even portable storage. I hope there's a firmware update that enables these features in the future. Even as it is, it has a LOT of standout features and very solid build quality. It could just be so much better. Will update review if a software update is released. ... show more

  • It worth it!
Received this unit right before we were about to start construction work on our house. And this device has become very convenient: the sensor thermal imaging camera has become an invaluable tool for identifying heat leaks. It provided me with detailed thermal images that pinpointed where my home was losing heat, making it ideal for maximizing the energy efficiency of our renovation. We discovered heat leaks in places we never imagined, eliminating thought sources that had already saved us some dollars and made our home a truly cozy and comfortable place (before we encountered serious heat leaks that cost us dollars). The camera's intuitive touchscreen interface made it easy to navigate its extensive features, and the Wi-Fi capability allowed me to easily share and transfer images to my laptop and then to a contractor. I was able to detect subtle differences in temperature, revealing not only obvious leaks, but also potential problem areas that I hadn't initially thought of. The PIP, IR, VL and MIF modes offered by the camera enriched the analysis, giving me a clear and complete view of the heat distribution throughout the house. Additionally, it has a built-in laser rangefinder, which has proven to be extremely useful for determining accurate distances. To sum it up, the KAIWEETS thermal imaging camera has become an important part of my construction toolkit, turning a complex task into a manageable project with significantly improved energy efficiency. It's expensive, but it will pay off. ... show more

  • easy to use
It was ready to go out of the box. the visible light and thermal camera overlay match nearly perfectly so its easy to identify thermal differences. The laser pointer also points exactly where it the camera is centered on. Over all its a great thermal camera and the price is not bad at all.

  • Great for Home Use
This IR camera is a really nice item for checking hot and cold spots in the home. I think it would be a good tool for businesses as well, despite some limitations. The screen is great and the IR sensor does a great job even at a distance. I love the indicator showing up with a measurement of the hottest spot in my basement (exposed heat pipe) from across the room. It gives a great look at the temperature zones of our gaming PC, and has given me some ideas about changing the fan setup. Pictures save easily and are accessible via Windows. This is where I find an issue, however. I want so much this to have an SD card slot rather than having to hook the whole thing up to my PC. I also want VIDEO capability. Maybe I somehow overlooked this in the poorly written instructions, but I think having a video mode, or even time lapse (to actually make use of the tripod interface) would be such great additions to be able to view temperature changes over time. To me that would make this 5 stars. I just can't believe that in this day and age for this price point, we can't have video capability. This thing touts 25fps! It's capable of turning those frames into video, it just doesn't. Beyond these issues I really do love this thing for spot temperature checks of random things around the house. I'm not a pro by any means, so I can't speak of utility in the contractor/HVAC world, but I am mostly happy with it for my limited use. ... show more

  • Hot/Cold Spots & Ghost
My husband uses this for location hot/cold spot around the house or vehicles….my daughters use this for ghost walks and investigations. Either way, it’s easy to use, lightweight so it’s easy to carry around, not too big so it’s easy to pack.
