I bought a K&M A-frame stand nearly 30 years ago. It's an absolute tank and still looks practically brand new. But not so convenient to carry around; it's almost like lugging an extra guitar. So I heard the great things about the Heli 2 and bought one. Took it out of the box and it is substantial - at 2.9 pounds vs. 4.25 pounds for my tank it is still plenty heavy and strong. Now it does fold easily and I can see it being portable. But I don't find the design to be as robust as my other - I'd be shocked if it lasted 30 years. Of course I'd be shocked it I lasted another 30 years. There is plenty of play in the joint at the top of the stand. The cross beam allows you to slide it to any position. All the pics and videos have it set all the way back. The stand has too much play in that position IMO. If you move it all the way forward there is a little more stability and less wiggle, but to collapse the cross brace for storage, you have to slide it back. No big deal I suppose but I was hoping this would be another tank. It's good but not a replacement for my previous K&M tank. ... show more

I own 3 of these. They break down and set up in a flash, are solid as a rock when opened, and I have no fear for my guitars sitting on these. That said, I do not gig so I do not have to carry them around. They're kind of heavy and even when folded, they're a little bulky. Also, they are a bit more expensive than similar type units. Final thoughts: probably not a great idea for traveling with, but fabulous if they're just going to sit in your studio. ... show more

this stand completely exceeded all expectations i had!! I just wanted something that would hold my bass, something low profile that didn't take up a bunch of floor space. this stand is AMAZING!! super sturdy construction, the cork material is coated for durability and is soft enough to not scratch your instrument (even my bass that has a very light finish on the wood!). I was a little concerned that it did not have a support for the neck, but the stand is incredibly sturdy, and shows no sign of wobble. The width of the stand can be adjusted a few inches to support different sized instruments. But take note this stand is explicitly for electric guitars and basses (the spacing will allow for instruments less than 2.75" deep), there is a different model that is deeper and will support acoustic instruments. This product is made in Germany and it shows. Yes there are cheaper stands out there, but for $15 more, you can have this superior product that looks great in your home and keeps your instrument safe! HIGHLY recommend! ... show more
