  • Requires some creativity when mounting, but worth it for the money.
Lots to go over here. First, the plow arrives on a pallet, east to unpack and get all pieces laid out. So there is three steps to get this up and working. 1. Plow assembly. THis is putting the actual plow together. 2. Putting the mounting brackets on your vehicle. 3. Winch Electric component. Step 1: Pretty easy to figure out. Takes time, but through some good YouTube videos and common sense you can piece it together. Note that there is not one video to show you this from top to bottom, you’ll have to go through a few different videos for different models to get everything complete. A few times I had to disassemble pieces because I had them upside down or opposite direction. But I figured it out. Step 2: Mounting the brackets is challenging. I have a 1995 Ford F-250 diesel. The brackets fit but the bolts supplied did not. Very very little instruction and next to nothing on YouTube. This is the most challenging part of the assembly. I located the holes in the front of the vehicle where the brackets mount. However you cannot access them without taking off the front end of your truck including your bumper, snow covers etc. Next, my model truck has bumper mounting plates that cover the holes where the brackets connect through, so I had to drill through the frame on both sides. Not impossible, but a lot of figuring on my end. Next, the bolts were 3.5 inch 15/16 bolts. That is NOT long enough to go through both sides of the 3/4 inch steel frame. Had to buy 5.5 inch 15/16 bolts. The smaller of the bolts I assume, go through only one half of the frame. Good luck tightening the bolts from inside the frame. It took me a lot of trial and error and 3 trips to the hardware store. Step 3: The electrical is refreshingly easy after the mounting steps. Still will require additional equipment that is NOT included in the kit. The breaker running from the 12v unit is 1/8 inch and batteries connect using 1/4 inch. So you’ll need to cut the ends of the connectors off, strip the wire and connect new ends. Which is easy, but requires a trip to the store. After that you just need to seat the wire and powerhouse assembly. There are two clips that cover the prongs that the plow sits on when connected to the mount. These are not very easy to get off when you want to take the plow off your vehicle. I can do it by myself, but ideally two people would make it a lot easier. In the end, be prepared to dedicate 10-12 hours and 3-4 trips to the hardware store to get this done. But if you have some patience, and are a little creative, this is a great plow for the money. ... show more

  • Great snow plow
I live in the mountains of northern California. Last winter we were snowed in for 3 1/2 weeks. My driveway is a mile long and really steep. I bought this plow to, hopefully, keep the driveway open. The plow came very well packed in an amazingly small palleted box. It took me most of the day to put it together. The instructions were some of the most detailed and concise that I have seen. I am mounting the unit on a 1973 F250 4X4 Highboy. I had reservations about buying the custom mount and hoping it would fit my truck. Instead of buying the custom mount I designed and fabricated my own mount. I lowered the mounting location so that the DK2 supplied cross member was at the correct height. Not only was there no question about how well the mount would fit, but the steel cost only about 1/4 of the price of the DK2 mount. I would recommend that if you are good at fabricating and welding you skip the "Custom Mount" and just weld up your own. After I bolted the cross member into my mount attaching the plow was incredibly easy. Line the truck up properly and you can drive right into the mount. The clips that lock the plow to the cross member are easy to install even with gloves on. Years ago when living in the mountains of Arizona I had a name brand snowplow and it was much more difficult to mount and dismount. I haven't been able to test the plow in the snow but I don't see any reason that it won't perform well. ... show more

  • Electronics fail as soon as the 1yr warranty expire
Bought this plow In Feb 2017 because it was the best priced one for this size. Used less than 10 times over 1.5 winters, went to hook it up this year and now the winch control box is bad. Not under any warranty at this point, so I'm out over $100 for a new box, and will have to do the wiring all over again when the replacement arrives. It plowed fine when it worked, but this $120 piece fails so frequently that a description of what to expect when it fails and needs to be replaced is one of the top FAQ's on the manufacturers website. I didn't expect to need to buy expensive replacement parts this soon after buying a nearly $2000 plow. ... show more
