Features

  • BanTamP XL series features a channel switching footswitch, 6 knobs--specifically speaking, 2 channels can be controlled independently, now we have better control over the volume of CLEAN Channel and DISTORTION Channel, and adjust their GAIN and TONE independently.
  • ZOMBIE amp works great at lesser gain settings and lets you use your favorite overdrives to push it into higher gain with their own unique flavors. because of the High Gain structure of this amp, a noise gate, like our "Gate of Kahn" is a good idea to make your heavy chords nice and tight.
  • The ZOMBIE also has a CLEAN channel that can take pedals really well, which makes it flexible and a great little companion for many situations where your "big" head is just not sensible. once you start working with this amp, it will feel as if you are playing through a much bigger head and your friends just won't believe where your sound is really coming from.
  • The amp operates with a single 12AX7 tube in the preamp and uses a solid state power amp. the FX loop enables you to put your time based effects (or Phasers, Flangers and Choruses) behind the drive section and keep the effects sharp and not prevent them from being too muddy.
  • The icing on the cake is the Bluetooth connectivity is great to practice with PlayAlongs or to learn songs. Careful, the amp is small, but loud... its 20 Watts can be quite a handful. If you want to practice quietly, use the built in headphone out with speaker emulation.

  • Perfect for hard rock and heavy metal!
The media could not be loaded. Very impressive little head. Great tones for a decent price! JOYO delivered big on this amp! Light as a feather and heavy on the sound, pair it with a decent speaker cabinet. It has 20 Watts of power, I can't get it off of 1, it's very powerful and can surely run my 4x12 cabinet with no problems. It is very small and easy to carry, and has the gain for each channel and a footswitch included! The distortion is killer and the clean is sharp and clear. Recommended. ... show more

  • Serious on tone
I bought the Zombie 2 for the dual channel option and I'm glad I did. I wanted a high gain amplifier for down tuned metal, hard rock, and rock guitar playing but I didn't want to have to sell a kidney on the black market to get it. After watching a couple YouTube videos with positive reviews I decided to give it a shot. I own several joyo pedals and have learned to appreciate their products. Just because they're inexpensive doesn't mean they're junk. The good: The high gain side of the amp is amazing! Having a tube in the preamp section gives the high gain channel a definite warmth and push. It's responsive even without using added overdrive and with passive pickups. While I do recommend an eq pedal to get the most out of the tone, it's got great power and tone just as it is. An eq, and a little added overdrive(really recommend the joyo maximum od) and she's a raging beast. Great lows, clear highs and a fine balance with the mids. Power to spare too. I run mine into a Marshall 2x12 with celestion V30 speakers and I can bury a drummer. Easily enough power for small venues and practice. Fx loop in the back and it takes pedals extremely well both through the fx loop and in the front. I do recommend a noise gate at the end of the chain on the gain channel. The ok: the clean channel is ok. No reverb with the amp but it's clear, clean and responsive again thanks to the tube preamp section. You really can dial in solid clean tones. Add delay and a little reverb via pedals and you can rock out blues and r&b with ease. Both channels take pedals well so if you add a little overdrive you can have dirty blues to vintage rock tones with a twist of a dial. Really inexpensive combo for vintage rock is the zombie 2 on the clean channel and the joyo vintage od. Got the pedal used for $20 at a guitar shop and plugged it in. About 5 minutes later I was jamming on my sg copy playing Sweet Emotion and grinning like an idiot because my cheap little setup sounded so good. The bad: no built in reverb. That's it. Seriously that's it. That is the only con I can find with this amp head. I've played it extensively, run every pedal combination I can come up with through it, played a semi hollow Gretsch, an ibanez 6 and 7 string through with passive and active pickups, a Les Paul, a Fender Player series stratocaster, an SG copy, and a Charvel hsh super strat San Dimas model, and two squier guitars(50s classic vibe and affinity telecaster). Thing sounds amazing. ... show more

  • Who buys a Boogie clone for the clean channel? That's absurd!
It's me. I'm absurd. So, first let's talk dirty channel. Use some sort of boost/drive pedal to help keep it from getting muddy. I've never used a real MB so I can't compare, but the defaul is muddy. If you can tighten it up, it's just crazy crazy distortion. Clean channel - I'm running a pair of knock-off FilterTron pickups on the guitar I play the most and this little bugger is a legit pedal platform. I'm not using super fancy pedals mind you, but it's a compressor and a certain green pedal clone as the first things into the amp and it works well. Plus the FX loop? Heck yeah. Or if I'm not running any modulation I can run the FX out direct into my interface and record. Like, it's a "cheap" amp but surprisingly versatile and it sounds good. To my ear, it stomps mudholes in a certain terror lunchbox I had previously. ... show more

  • Big punch in a little package!
Wow, this thing is LOUD! It definitely has dual rectifier sound. Packs a wallop for its size. And the price doesn’t justify this little amp sounding so good. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed! I love it!

  • good little practice amp
needed a smaller/lighter head for practice at home insted dragging heavier mesa tripple around as long as your expectations are realistic this thing rocks. for the price and size i was not expecting much has nice clean channel and the distorted channel i could dial in some good tones added compresser, delay, chorus and eq pedals through effect loop and got really killer tones and sound pretty surprised with it. for jamming at home its great. only issue have volume jump few times on its own. ... show more

  • Loud Amp, small box
I was looking through reviews online, and the JOYO Zombie-II BanTamp XL had nothing but good reviews for it. I had recently gotten an Engl 2x12 guitar cabinet and needed something to test the speakers as I decide on what tube amp I really wanted to get for it. I figured for the price, why the hell not? This little dude is surprisingly LOUD for living room play and it comes with everything to need to plug into a guitar cabinet: a cable to connect your cabinet, a footswitch and cable to switch from clean to lead. The clean is decent, but the lead channel is where the amp shines. My only criticism is that in only has a volume, gain, and tone knob for each channel, so your limited in your ability to shape your tone, but you can easily get a tone that sounds good, despite that. For an introduction to amps and the price, this unit is really hard to beat. ... show more
