Features

  • BanTamP XL series features a channel switching footswitch, 6 knobs--specifically speaking, 2 channels can be controlled independently, now we have better control over the volume of CLEAN Channel and DISTORTION Channel, and adjust their GAIN, TONE and VOLUME independently
  • METEOR II maintains everything about the first generation of METEOR, 20 Watt head, compact and portable. It gives you a modern high gain sound with a lot of dirt and bite. Based on a more modern British approach to heavy sounds, it excels in a variety of genres
  • The amp operates with a single 12AX7 tube in the preamp and uses a solid state power amp. the FX loop enables you to put your time based effects (or Phasers, Flangers and Choruses) behind the drive section and keep the effects sharp and not prevent them from being too muddy
  • The METEOR XL has a CLEAN channel that can take pedals really well, which makes it flexible and a great little companion for many situations where your "big" head is just not sensible. Use a TS-type pedal (like the JOYO Green Legend or Vintage Overdrive) to push it into higher gain territory and hear it sing
  • The icing on the cake is the Bluetooth connectivity is great to practice with Play Alongs or to learn songs. Careful, the amp is small, but loud... its 20 Watts can be quite a handful. If you want to practice quietly, use the built in headphone out with speaker emulation

  • I am absolutely blown away by how loud this tiny amplifier can get.
As small as this guitar amplifier is, I really did not take it seriously, but was looking for something small and inexpensive for my son to use, and this amp seemed perfect. Once I plugged into this amp, I was actually surprised at just how loud it was. 20 watts is very loud indeed. I read online that this amp is supposed to be an emulation of an Orange amplifier, and I would guess it gets close, because there is a lot of very thick distortion inside this amp. This is more than a basic beginner amplifier, as this is a great amplifier for anyone who needs a practice amp at home. It isn't really loud enough to play with a band, but it sure can get louder than necessary for home use. I haven't tried the bluetooth capabilities of the amp yet, but if it works, it might add some versatility to using the amp, but I don't think playing music on my phone through this amp will sound good going through a guitar cabinet, as it isn't the right thing to put through them. Overall, however, this amp is fantastic, especially for beginners. ... show more

  • Fun affordable amp
Bottom line: This is a really fun amp that sounds good. It's affordable, and while it's generally solidly made, don't expect it to last forever without some maintenance and maybe repairs over time. Some background on the series: Joyo Bantamps are cheap "lunchbox" size amps that sound like famous, big, expensive ones whose identities are hidden in the names. MeteOR sounds like an Orange, while JaCkMan sounds like a Marshall JCM800, etc etc. They have a single tube in the preamp section, so they're not fully "tube amps" and you should calibrate expectations accordingly. I also have a Jackman and a Zombie and like them quite a bit. I will say, however, that over time you'll need to replace the preamp tube, and you might encounter other issues as well that you might need to fix. They're fairly solidly built for being so cheap, but stuff does give out. Note that this is just the amplifier head, not the speaker cab. You'll need a speaker cab with a minimum resistance of 8 ohms, which you can find in all sorts of configurations, from small single speakers to multi-speaker cabs. This thing will get LOUD if you crank it into a big cab, probably enough for a small gig though I'm a bedroom player. Anyway, on to my review of this specific amp: In the years since I got my Jackman and Zombie, I realized that my favorite sounds actually come from Orange amps like the Thunderverb and Rockerverb. They have a mid boost that's kind of like a Marshall, but the built-in distortion gives a much "juicier" saturation to my ear. They allow you to cut through without sounding exactly like everyone else. I was stoked to give the Meteor a shot, and it did not disappoint. An amp like this will never sound "exactly like the real thing," but it definitely gives you that awesome Orange character. Even the clean channel has some attitude to it, and the gain channel goes from classic rock to juiced-up high-gain as you crank it up. The gain channel doesn't pair with overdrive pedals quite as easily as my Jackman does, but if you experiment you can definitely find combinations that work. This is the "II" version of the Meteor, so you can control the tone separately for each channel and switch them by foot. It also has an effects loop -- put an EQ pedal in there to give yourself a lot more tone-shaping options -- as well as Bluetooth connectivity so you can play along with recordings on your phone. In general, this was what I expected from my previous experience with the Bantamp series. It's tons of fun at a low price, but with some risks you always get with cheaper products. ... show more

  • Nice Little Practice Amp Head
The JOYO Meteor II is a cute little amp. I took a picture of it next to some eyeglasses to demonstrate how little it is. Notice that it is about the length of the glasses. The amp comes with extra guitar/speaker cords and a power cord. It is ready to go - there is no set-up. Twenty watts is enough to drive my 12" Celestion in a small room. The clean sound reasonably mimics a classic 12AX7 tube, the same one found in many early Fender and Marshall amplifiers. Gain adds some distortion. It is a step beyond solid-state amps, rounding out and adding body to the sound. The overdrive channel, to my ear, gets harsh too quickly. Adjusting the sound to add a bit of distortion for blues is difficult. However, if it is deep grunge power chords you're after, this amp delivers. I miss having a built-in reverb channel. There is a handy fx send and receive that works well. It also works well with headphones. ... show more

  • Awesome Amp Head
I own a GTRS guitar that has built in effects that emulate all kinds of amps. But an emulation is nothing like the real thing. It is great to be able to manually adjust the overdrive to the exact sound you want without requiring a phone or other device. It's nice and small, but does the work of a far bigger amp. I even have a better sound from each pickup with this. I love it! ... show more

  • AMAZON LIES
I bought this amp shipped and sold by AMAZON.COM AMAZON listed it as GREAT Condition. I received the amp and it turned on but made no sound. It was returned for not working and Amazon repackaged it and listed it as working great. I called customer service and the guy hung up on me. The return has been going on for a week. I still don't have my money back. I gave my money to Amazon. Wasted my time and effort bringing the item to the mail and still waiting for my money. What a waste of everything. This isn't acceptable. Worst customer service ever. JOYO is a cheap company with poor quality control. Amazon is too big and the quality control is the worst. ... show more
