Features

  • BanTamP XL series features a channel switching footswitch, 8 knobs--specifically speaking, 2 channels can be controlled independently, now we have better control over the volume of CLEAN Channel and DISTORTION Channel, and adjust their GAIN, TONE, VOLUME and VOICE independently.
  • TWEEDY features dual channel, American classic vintage tone, the DISTORTION has a lttle bit of FUZZ, while the CLEAN sound has rich lows. It recreates the classic Rock and Blues of the 20th century.
  • Especially, what makes this amp so unique is its VOICE knob, you can boost or attenuate the mids according to your guitar playing, meanwhile, adjust VOICE knob combined with Gain knob, you are able to get more interesting tones.
  • The amp operates with a single 12AX7 tube in the preamp and uses a solid state power amp. the FX loop enables you to put your time based effects (or Phasers, Flangers and Choruses) behind the drive section and keep the effects sharp and not prevent them from being too muddy.
  • The icing on the cake is the Bluetooth connectivity is great to practice with Play Alongs or to learn songs. Careful, the amp is small, but loud... its 20 Watts can be quite a handful. If you want to practice quietly, use the built in headphone out with speaker emulation.

  • Very impressive little amp
I bought this to serve as a backup because my primary Fender combo amp which was acting squirrely. With this bad boy I can pull a few cables and be back up and running (with my old combo acting as a dumb speaker cabinet powered by this amp) in no time. The feature of the built in effects loop makes this simple, since I run my current amp with an effects loop for time and modulation effects. The amp is very conveniently sized and easy to carry thanks to the sturdy handle. It has substantial weight for its size, but it still very easy to carry (MUCH easier than a traditional head). I can even throw it my backpack. The power supply lives outside of the head, but plugs in easily and has plenty of length on the cord. As for features, it has 2 switchable channels (front panel only - no foot switch, but if you don't mind voiding warranty one can be added with minimal soldering/drilling skills): clean and dirty, the latter of which is voiced like a Marshall JCM model. There's volume, gain and tone knobs - simplicity itself. You can also turn on the bluetooth antenna (on the back) that lets you feed a bluetooth audio signal (e.g. backing tracks from your phone) through the amp. It's a nice feature that works OK and would be good for practice perhaps. There an input jack, send/receive effects loops (post pre-amp), and a speaker output. It comes with a little speaker cable, but I didn't need it or test it. You'll probably want a F-to-F coupler (to use a combo) or a longer speaker cable to reach some cabinet's signal input. But none of that means anything if the tones aren't there. Well, I'm happy to report that the tones are there! Clean channel is very nice, good full spectrum - not too warm not too bright (leaning warm side). The dirty channel is awesome, courtesy of the JCM-voiced circuit and 12AX7 tube driving it. It not only sounds great, with that classic Marshall rock / hard rock distortion, but it feels like a tube amp should. E.g., it cleans up very nicely as you work your guitar volume. It's actually very impressive. Who needs a tube power section? This thing sounds/feels great with its solid state power section and tube pre-amp. Oh, and those 20W are PLENTY loud for most jams and gigs. Overall, I couldn't be happier and can't believe they sell it for so little. It's a great bargain and has me wanting to buy other Joyo Bantamp heads in this series (I hear good things about the Orange and Mesa models). ... show more

  • Serious on tone
Style: American,High Gain,Distortion Color: Grey
I bought the Zombie 2 for the dual channel option and I'm glad I did. I wanted a high gain amplifier for down tuned metal, hard rock, and rock guitar playing but I didn't want to have to sell a kidney on the black market to get it. After watching a couple YouTube videos with positive reviews I decided to give it a shot. I own several joyo pedals and have learned to appreciate their products. Just because they're inexpensive doesn't mean they're junk. The good: The high gain side of the amp is amazing! Having a tube in the preamp section gives the high gain channel a definite warmth and push. It's responsive even without using added overdrive and with passive pickups. While I do recommend an eq pedal to get the most out of the tone, it's got great power and tone just as it is. An eq, and a little added overdrive(really recommend the joyo maximum od) and she's a raging beast. Great lows, clear highs and a fine balance with the mids. Power to spare too. I run mine into a Marshall 2x12 with celestion V30 speakers and I can bury a drummer. Easily enough power for small venues and practice. Fx loop in the back and it takes pedals extremely well both through the fx loop and in the front. I do recommend a noise gate at the end of the chain on the gain channel. The ok: the clean channel is ok. No reverb with the amp but it's clear, clean and responsive again thanks to the tube preamp section. You really can dial in solid clean tones. Add delay and a little reverb via pedals and you can rock out blues and r&b with ease. Both channels take pedals well so if you add a little overdrive you can have dirty blues to vintage rock tones with a twist of a dial. Really inexpensive combo for vintage rock is the zombie 2 on the clean channel and the joyo vintage od. Got the pedal used for $20 at a guitar shop and plugged it in. About 5 minutes later I was jamming on my sg copy playing Sweet Emotion and grinning like an idiot because my cheap little setup sounded so good. The bad: no built in reverb. That's it. Seriously that's it. That is the only con I can find with this amp head. I've played it extensively, run every pedal combination I can come up with through it, played a semi hollow Gretsch, an ibanez 6 and 7 string through with passive and active pickups, a Les Paul, a Fender Player series stratocaster, an SG copy, and a Charvel hsh super strat San Dimas model, and two squier guitars(50s classic vibe and affinity telecaster). Thing sounds amazing. ... show more
