On the plus side, the cloth is good and I was so surprised to find that they had overcast the edges, so I did not have to deal with that. The thread is nice and thick so you get good coverage. Also, the pattern is the easiest to read I have ever come across. Instead of those annoying bizarre tiny symbols, it's all letters and numbers. Downside to the pattern: The pattern is split into 4 separate sections, so you can't help but worry about the sections lining up, even though the grid is well-marked. Also, you cannot work the middle section without constantly flipping the chart over. Best solution is to finish an entire quarter and move on to the next. Two other issues: some of the thread colors are so close in value that it is hard to tell them apart. And even worse, expect to run short of thread. I have completed several dozen kits from various companies and am so careful with the thread that I have never run short with other kits, but I did with this one. While this piece is not your Grandmother's cross stitch sampler, which I appreciate. It is very obvious all they did was run a piece if art through a translator and spent 0 time cleaning it up as an actual pattern. The spiderwebs are solid blocks. There is no backstitching in the entire piece. Some could say that makes it good for beginners but I disagree. The pattern is enormous and would be a challenge for a true beginner to follow. I intend to re-work the pattern, include backstitching and reduce the CT from 14 to 18 so that the stitching actually does the design justice. ... show more

This is not for beginners only because it has approximately 76 shades/threads but other than that anyone can do it. This is the fourth cross stitch kit I completed and it took me about two years only because I worked on it on the weekends. I am really enjoying this pre-kitted cross stitch set. The pattern is very easy to read, the floss is presorted and labeled on a card. They have a DMC conversion, but I find that this floss is working out just fine. It doesn't get 'fuzzy' or frayed when using, and the pre-cut lengths are a good fit. The fabric is 14ct, and not marred. Even better, it's edged, so no unraveling. It was a very good price, and I'm very happy with it. I didnt read and see how massive this one is! My mistake on that but otherwise it is amazing. The book is a hi gloss photo paper so if you like to highlight the pattern you'll need to photocopy it. the string came pre sorted, with the sorting cards already set up and the rest of the string in pre labeled packs. It came with TWO needles just in case. The whole thing was in a nice plastic case with a snap. I'm excited to begin this one. Theres no half stitches or back stitching on the pattern but I've considered maybe adding my own if it needs it. Overall this is an amazing kit and well worth the value. ... show more

If you’ve never done this craft you have to it is so much fun, it gives me quiet time to think. If you like paint by numbers you will like these. One thing I did buy a different pen to work with and extra wax because it is easy to lose. So far it seems like there are plenty of diamonds but I’ll know more when I finish. I love that you get 4 they aren’t humongous but they will be easier to frame. I actually like the size next to others I’ve done. ... show more

I accidentally ordered a counted cross stitch instead of a stamped cross stitch. I will keep this in hopefully improving my expertise in order to attempt this. I do so love the pattern. I am expecting a stamped cross stitch that is more to suited to my level as a beginner.
