  • Wood plane for the low
I mainly got this wood plane to help when installing 2x8s and 2x10s. Sometimes after installing and as you are installing sheathing you relize that a few are higher than the rest and will raise the plywood slightly. Instead of having to get the reciprocating saw out and cut the nails and try and install it flush I can just plane the high spot down in a few minutes. This tool makes it very easy especially with the lax quality control of big home improvement stores when it comes to dimensional lumber. I love this thing, it’s a very useful tool in my postion. • Good tool to have
If you do projects around the house you may want to keep one of these in the garage. I recently used it on something other than wood and it worked very well, so it’s not only for that! It seems to be good quality and it’s pretty comfortable to use as well! Thank you.

  • Good Size…Easy To Handle…Quality?
I ordered this ‘JORGENSEN Wood Plane’ to use on an upcoming woodworking project. A lot of the boards I will be using need to be exactly what I sizes, so I figured this wood plane would be a big help. I like this ‘JORGENSEN Wood Plane’ for a couple of reasons. Firstly, I really like the size. It’s long enough to shave a good amount off in one pass. And since many of the boards I’ll be working with are on the longer side, that will make the job faster and definitely easier. And secondly, this ‘JORGENSEN Wood Plane’ is very comfortable to hold and handle. Smaller planes to me are hard to get a grip on and use…this one is not. It’s nearly a foot long, so it easy to gang onto. And it doesn’t operate very smoothly. My only concern about this ‘JORGENSEN Wood Plane’ is the quality. It’s very lightweight, so I don’t know if it will hold up to repeated use. Only time will tell on that. And the sole does not seem high quality as well…it’s thin. But for now, I’m satisfied with this ‘JORGENSEN Wood Plane’. The size is good, and it’s comfortable to use. The quality, though, is iffy. I can recommend it with caution. ... show more

  • Great Wood Plane, Comfortable and Easy to Use
This wood plane is well made and glides nice and smoothly over the surface. I use wood planes often to clean up non-square cuts or even to make something fit on a non-square wall. This tool is exactly what I was looking for and it does a great job. I recently used it while putting in a butcher block shelf and needed to shave off a bit of the end. It worked flawlessly, took 2-3 passes and got my edge in the shape necessary. My one and only concern with this style of plane is that it will be difficult to sharpen and more than likely the shaving aspect will simply just need to be replaced rather than sharpened. So it will have a bit more limited life than that of a standard plane. Regardless, it's an excellent value and does a great job. ... show more

  • Excellent Ergonomics
Thus plane feels great in your hands, and cuts aggressively. It uses standard replacement blades, but the one it came with is great. Still cutting clean after a month.

  • High quality, well designed
This is the first Jorgensen plane I have owned - most of mine are almost antiques I've collected over the years. It's a new experience using a die casting body and design. It feels good, shaves away a lot of wood in a single pass, and gives you good control. I have yet to use it on a large project but think it will be ideal for a mandolin making project I have in mind. If you haven't tried this type of plane, order this one to see what you are missing - you might want to add some of these type planes to your collection! ... show more
