I was unhappy with product. Seemed watered down. I worked in salon for years and it was much thicker a product. I definitely would not recommend. It has lost what was a great product at one time tinrepair hair.

I was really looking forward to this product because I love Joico. A hairdresser friend cautioned me years ago about ordering high end products like this from Amazon because she said people will empty the actual product out and replace it with something else and turn around and sell it. I have ordered other Joico products and they've been great. But when I first went to use this one, something was strange. The consistency of it was really watered down with small chunks. I shook up the bottle to see if that'd help mix it back together, but nothing changed. It smells good like I would imagine it should smell since my other Joico products always smell great. It went on my hair smooth, but didn't do anything different than without using this product. I gave it a few more tries but it still didn't seem right. I went to Ulta this past week and checked out the same product they have on the shelf. The consistency of the product at Ulta was WAY different - the one at Ulta has the consistency of like a thick toothpaste almost - it holds the shape of the little hole you squeeze it out of. It smells a little different as well. I'm disappointed in this product and will be returning it and only purchasing this type of product from stores like Ulta in the future. ... show more

I bought this in a salon and also here on Amazon and the salon version was much thicker. The one from Amazon was very runny so probably watered down. I bought it from the store USAPROHAIR.

    • Made my hair SUPER TANGLED and sticky/rough
I thought this would make my hair smoother or at least stronger. I used as directed and it made my hair rough, ridiculously tangled (thousands of tight curly knots), as if I had gone to bed with a prom night's worth of hairspray in my hair. I have very fine hair, a lot of it, past my shoulders, dry but not terribly damaged. It's an interesting look--certainly full of body!--but totally un-combable. Did not work as expected. I put a little silicone-free conditioner on the very ends on top of the treatment before rinsing and that did not seem to impact the effect in either direction. It smells not so great, also. It feels sticky and dense, sort of like a cross between a Vaseline-based ointment (it does have mineral oil in it!) and a thick cream. I wish I had skipped the Joico and used some heavy silicone-y conditioner that at least would have given the hair some "slip"--which means it would be weighed down but easy to detangle. ... show more

I started using this product last year when I had severely damaged my hair from bleaching and coloring. It has done wonders. I have used it on a daily basis and then on a weekly basis when my hair was healthier and didn't need to use it so much anymore. But I would use a little on my ends. I also switched to using the Joico Shampoos and Conditioner. My hair Is amazing! I recently purchased this product on Amazon through Intelligent Beauty Supply. I received the real deal through this buyer. I notice a lot of people say that they got a fake product or expired. But if people don't list what store they bought it from then the fake products are going to keep being sold. ... show more

    • Hair mask that works to fix damage by poor salon care

This did nothing. 00000! 🙄 There's no scent which is fine and obviously no moisturizing, don't care about scent as is a pre-treatment. I've let it sit on my hair according to directions which says 20 minutes I've left it on for 2 hours and then wash hair and condition with same brand and notice absolutely no difference. This was ranked high but for me I did not notice any difference whatsoever. I do with Olaplex especially the bonding oil, very expensive. Despite all the claims I would not purchase this product if your hair is in need of repair this is not the product for you. It's not easy to sit for 2 hours with a product on your hair only to come out of the shower with it being the same. Not a good product. I'm switching brands entirely. I use Joico shampoo and conditioner. Time to change. Hope this helps. 😁 ... show more

    • For those who think this is a fake…

I regretted having ordered this item after I saw all the « fake » reviews. So I did my own research before using it: 1) I called the company to figure out if they put a sceal on the tube and they confirmed that they do not put a sceal. So not having a sceal is not a sign of fakeness. 2) People who say that the cream was thicker in a salon, I don’t doubt your experience but I doubt very much that a salon would use such a tiny tube with their customers. THey would probably buy a big bottle and I haven’t seen the Reconstructor Joyco in a big bottle. Since Joyco sell so many products, are we talking about the same product? To be verified… 3) I tried the product. I have very fine long gray hair. It definitely gives more body and volume to them but it is not moisturizing (not does it claim to be). I used coconut oil the next day to moisturize them but I really liked the body and volume Joyco reconstructor gave to the hair. And the smell is absolutely amazing! I also used this product after using Tresemme shampoing (clear one) for the first time so it is possible that this shampoing did dry my hair more than usual. My conclusion: It is NOT a fake but it has to be used with a very specific purpose in mind («reconstruct» hair) and you cannot expect the product to be moisturizing (just add your own afterward). I find it also expensive for a tiny tube. I did use half of the tube almost in one time. It gave me a look I was looking for for a long time (wavy but a bit dry as when you just woke up - really beautiful). I would buy it again. ... show more
