I have never used a self tanner before but I got tired of being the lightest foundation shade. I was looking for low maintenance, easy application, mess free, and gradual tanning. This product has been all of those things. I love how quick it is to apply after the shower, much faster to throw it on and dry off than waiting for it to dry before dressing. It doesn’t transfer to my clothes, it doesn’t leave stains all over my bathroom. I use the fair to medium shades to bring my foundation shade 2 levels more tan, and to keep people wondering what I’m up to in the winter months to have a perfect tan. I will agree with other reviews that say to dry off a little bit before application. If your skin is dripping wet it will leave streaks, I’ve found them especially around my ankles. Honestly I don’t know how I went so long without anyone telling me about tanning lotions like this, were you all keeping this a secret for yourselves??? Highly recommend this product for my fellow pale people who want some color. If you’re looking for a deep deep dark tan I’m not sure if this is the product for you. ... show more

I've been buying this brand and line of lotion for a while now and while it works great, I think it's been slowly changing a little. Originally, several years ago, it seemed more oily. Almost as if you needed to shake it to mix it before use. But lately it seems more like a standard lotion in consistency, and it smells different too, almost again more like standard lotion. Whatever they're doing now vs before seems to dry a little faster which is a pro, but at the same time, the after effects feel different, less slick. Also doesn't seem to have the same bronzing effect or potency as it used to, which is definitely a con if that part was important to you. I really like Jergens natural glow bc it doesn’t leave you yellow or orange and easy to apply. Just rub a small amount on when you turn to shower off and pat dry. Gives you a gradual tan. The more times you apply the darker you get.

I honestly have no idea how this should be properly used, because per the instructions ain’t it. I’m Casper levels of pale and use the non-wet glow version yearly, so I’m used to using a similar product for a gradual tan that makes me look pleasingly less like a cadaver. I decided to give this version a go three days ago and it has been a hilarious series of WTFs ever since. I did my shower thing including gentle exfoliation and, per the instructions and common sense, applied evenly to my damp skin. I let it soak in completely while I got ready for a wedding. Thank GOD I was wearing a midi with long sleeves, because, within an hour, I was Gob from Arrested Development: “I’ve made a huge mistake.” Pros It certainly does add color to your skin—probably 3 shades after first application Not too orangey Moisturizing Mehs Ok maybe a little orangey Cons No matter how you apply (and I’m a massage therapist for gods sake, it’s the one thing I am sure I can do), you will look like a Jackson Polluck painting and/or like you peed yourself and the pee tracks removed the color, but all over Will I be returning it? No, because I have convinced myself I can fix this and have had some success strategically applying to completely dry skin and standing like a statue until it dries. I’m way darker than I was aiming for after two applications but I’m hoping I’ll cover the most inconsistent spots before my naturally tan SIL can give me the “oh honey” face when we get together in Mexico in three days. I rarely review Amazon items but this one is worth it. NO smell, NO dye guide (it’s a white lotion that doesn’t leave color anywhere), and virtually no streaks. Does very slightly streak on my feet but using a daily facial tanning water on my feet helps and overall is not very noticeable. Two applications makes for a very noticeable natural tan and only has to be re-applied every few days…. Does not leave a gross feeling after you put it on, honestly just feels like a moisturizer and a little actually goes a long way. If you’ve been avoiding self tanning bc of the smell, the transfer, or feeling gross after it’s on definitely give this a go! I wish I would’ve used this years ago. ... show more
