Did not enjoy these jaws. Every time I put pressure on the upper receiver the jaws would pop out form the drive clamps no matter how tight I had the vice. I only got to 25 ftlbs of torque on the barrel bum before they poped up off the jaws. I tried both ways and several times until I just threw in the towel. My brand new FDE cerakote finished ar10 now has a scratch before I even got to put the 1st round though. Ugh. ... show more

    • A Five Star if design is changed
The basic qualities of the jaws are excellent. The problem comes from sizing. Many vise jaws are 5" rather than 4" or 6". Their use in a 5" vise is OK, but barely - the magnets are too widely spread to cut to 5", and cutting to 5" would also lose some of the angled gripping indentions. I highly recommend that the the 6" design be altered so that it can be cut to use at 5". This would be then excellent for use on a 5" vise, and would not affect its excellence in a 6" vise. Move the magnets and the cast grooves slightly towards the middle so that the jaws can be cut to 5". ... show more

    • Very handy
I have had these for two years now, and use them all the time. The jaws are strong enough that I can apply substantial pressure on the part without any marring. They grip very well. I can hold 1/4" brass tubing to cut with a hacksaw and 1/2" thick 304 stainless plate and work on it with an angle grinder. I wanted to wait before writing a review, since the real question for me was whether they would hold up. Excellent product, and great value for money. ... show more

    • work well, could be priced better
I was worried that the nylon used on these was going to be too hard, but that wasn't the case for me. They were stiff and non marring, and performed well. I like that they have a flat side and a side with grooves for round objects. The magnets aren't strong enough, so you still have to position them to prevent the workpiece from dislodging them during tightening of the vise. Might as well not have magnets since they trap fine ferrous shavings on the surface of the jaws, and they probably drive up the cost. They do mar easily, more than expected, and I will have to replace them at some point. I wish they were priced lower because of this. I'll have to buy cheaper tpu jaws to see if they are more cost effective vs performance. ... show more

I do not know if this is a great product or not. I bought it for my husband for Christmas along with a new vise. I will update once he uses it which will probably be in January. I can't really rate it a fair star rating since I don't really know. I will give it a 5 star rating because I don't think its fair to only rate a 1 star.     • Great 6" protectors
I put them in the vise -- and then never took them out. A lot of times you buy something, try and then put it on the shelf. Not here. I found I could put a piece of metal flat in the vise and drill a hole through it. The V groove held the metal in place well. I didn't know I'd use protectors so often! Now I use them all the time. I'll have to buy a set for the other vise too. ... show more

    • Not bad, but not great
I've now used these several times, for clamping barrels on a large 5 inch jaws vise. You have to seriously crank down hard, due to the slickness of this material, and if the barrel is nitride or melonite, it's tough. I also had one of the magnets that holds it on, simply pop out and get lost in the shop. However, it still has 3 other magnets, so I overlooked it. I kept them since they will fulfill more functions aside of just barrel work. I was able to put a handgun slide in a vise using these, and it worked well for the night sight install, in that case. ... show more

    • Very nice vice jaw protectors
I purchased both the 6" and 4" versions of these for the various vises I have. They have worked well and seem to be solidly made. I like the two different surfaces available, the magnets to hold them to the vise jaws when I tilt the vise head, and that they do not mar what they are clamping. Highly recommended. ... show more
