I've done a number of audio upgrades to numerous vehicles in the past, so I am no stranger to a simple speaker swap. Given the weird speaker size in the C pillars of the PT Cruiser, I found these. My first time using JBL for audio. But the price was right, and reviews were solid. The quality has not dissappointed, they feel of solid quality like they should last. The sound quality has a nice well rounded sound stage - perfectly adequate for the rear of the vehicle. Mine are powered by a 4 channel kicker crossover amplifier and not the head unit, so with the volume up they are nice and punchy with no distortion of muddy audio. Sound is nice and clear throughout the volume range. Installation was a breeze, they fit right in with a few millimeters to spare on the magnet and a support beam on the body of my vehicle. The only downside (if you can call it one) is there were no included wires with the speakers. Usually when I buy Sony/Pioneer/Infinity they always come with 2 pairs of wires I can plug into the speakers and crimp onto the existing harness. No big deal, I just soldered the wires directly for a secure connection. If you're on the fence about these, they are great speakers and worth taking a punt on them. I have no experience with them being driven by the head unit, but by an amplifier they are great. ... show more

Sound is much improved over stock 07 Focus front speakers. Once you get your EQ dialed in, they sound great. Not as loud as I was expecting, but still excellent for the money. Anyone who says these sound bad or tinny probably got the polarity mixed up when installing (out of phase speakers sound really bad). ... show more

Ordered these due to one of my 2000 Town car's speaker being damaged. They dropped right in and holes lined up with holes in rear deck. I was curious how much better these were so I only replaced the damaged one first and flipped between right and left speaker. At first I was not impressed with the JBL sound was lower than stock speaker not by a lot but noticeable. The JBL seemed a little lacking in bass but the mid and highs were there better than the stock speaker. I than replaced both speakers with the JBL's. With both in I could notice the improvement of the mid's and high's this is coming from 60 year old man ears. What I noticed is the longer I played them the better they seemed to sound and the bass started to come alive. Now after a couple of weeks they really sound good. I have heard people say that speakers need a break in period. Kind of makes sense for the bass as the edes of the bass cone are probably a bit stiff and loosen up with use. So for $53 thats what I got these for they sound good and I didn't have to go to a junk yard to try and find some old speakers that fit and probably just as worn out as my original ones were.     • Clean, Clear, and Crisp Sound!

These speakers came in much faster than the original projected shipping date. I installed them into my 2010 Ford F150 and it was a vast improvement over the OEM speakers. The sound is much cleaner and more vibrant than the originals and has a clearer, more crisp overall sound even at high levels. You can tell the difference right away when switching between my original back speakers to the new JBL speakers in front. Now I have to change the back speakers to match the fronts, because theyre so much more of an improvement. I have always changed out my OEM speakers to aftermarkets in search of a better sound and these JBLs do the trick. ... show more

I purchased these to replace the factory speakers on my ford F150 after I upgraded from the factory head unit. I had to solder the connections as none of the connectors here or from any other source fit right (not the speakers' fault). The holes matched perfectly with the factory holes so no further drilling or modifications were necessary. The head unit is max 45 watts per channel (no external amp right now) and I'm not getting any distortion almost to the max vol. Highly recommended. Good job again, JBL. ... show more

Replaced factory door speakers in 1997 f-150 in which the foam surrounds had crumbled with age. The 8620’s installed easily, although the frames weren’t quite the same shape as factory, leaving gaps between the frames and the door openings that had to be filled with supplied gaskets. As for audio quality, with factory head unit I don’t notice much difference. The jbl may have slightly more bass. Might add an amp or update the head unit later to see if there is an improvement. Wish Ford had designed the openings for 6x9 or 6.5 instead of 5x8. Anyway, no more buzzing for now! ... show more

**Update*** I still love these speakers. They still sound awesome......missing a little on the highs but other then that they are petfect. These speakers sound great. I was not expecting the bass that they put out. I am truly amazed. I have them running off of an Atoto A6 pro without an amp and let me tell you the louder the volume the better they sound. I was thinking about adding an underseat sub to complete the system. But I'm not sure I need one after hearing the bass coming from these speakers. Would definitely recommend and buy them again. ... show more
