I recently acquired this antique zebra hide and knew it would be tricky to style, so of course I searched the internets for inspiration. Admittedly, I wasn’t thrilled with the idea of a faux leather cushion. I feared it stiff and cheap-looking against a top grain leather sofa, but I must say, it’s quite well made! The brown, Italian-made, leather curio tray sitting atop the art books and the cushion are a lovely color match. The brown “leather” on the lumbar pillow is ever so slightly distressed, lending even more authenticity to it. I love that this pillow allows me to go beyond the typical black/white styling of a room with a zebra hide, and into the realm of earth tones. It also adds a bit of pattern without clashing or making the space look disjointed. I could not be more delighted! Here’s a photo of the pillow in the space I designed. These look amazing in my son’s room. So…..because I’m not the brightest crayon in the box, I purchased 2 orders, not realizing these came in a set of 2. But I love them so much, I will find a purpose for the other 2 rather than returning :) The black and leather detail is GORGEOUS and exactly what I needed to add some softness to the room while keeping it masculine. I bought the pair of pillow covers in 2022 and after one spring and summer season they faded. The pictures show the difference in color with the back of the pillow cover. Loved them initially but looks like I will be buying covers every year.
