  • Solution to having a portable anchor, but know your depth. Better as affordable dry bag.
This is a nifty little solution to having a portable anchor for your light craft. Filling it with sand or other heavy objects WHERE YOU LAUNCH is convenient for those with limited space or weight capacity while transporting. A few things to consider: -20L of sand does in fact weigh 60 pounds. It's approximately the weight of a 9yo child or a large microwave. I do not know why you would need a 60-pound anchor for a canoe, kayak, paddleboard, or even jet ski. If I had a 60-pound bag of sand, I don't know where I would store it on a kayak, paddleboard, or jet ski. -If you do want to use it as an anchor, use only as much sand as necessary (use wet sand to maximize weight and space), then get all of the air out of the bag before rolling it down. -Upgrade the rope (longer and stronger) and the clips. ... show more

  • Good Size, but Rope Could be Longer
This PVC bag is quite heavy duty. Since it is winter I can't try it out yet, but I don't expect to have any issues with the bag itself. The clips on the ends of the rope have a strong spring to them to and will stay shut. Two complaints about the rope though: 1. Would have been nice to be twisted nylon instead of poly rope. 2. 12 ft should have been 25ft. If you are saying for a PWC, you can only anchor very close to shore. I can't even add rope to it because I'm not able to remove the buoy included without cutting the rope. Where you connect the rope is done with 2 d-rings. Those are plastic and probably should have been stainless steel like the clips are. 60lbs of sand in water will weigh less, but still a lot of weight to rely on plastic rings to hold up for years of use. Holding a paddle board should be no issue for this, but will be interesting to see if it can hold a 700lb PWC with a 5 to 10MPH wind. Will update my review when I can try it on the lake. ... show more

  • This is a really cool idea for my fishing kayak & our small boat! Looking forward to summer 🌞!!
I can’t tell you right now how great it works, or how the longevity factor is, as it’s winter here in NY, and so I have to wait until early June to start using this seemingly incredible treasure!! We have traditional anchors we put down on our small, lake boat by our camper, and I’ve also tried a small one on my fishing kayak but it would never stay grounded. We (or I) depending on which device, would keep getting unlatched and floating away. This seems like an extraordinary idea for both of our particular marine devices, so that fishing and chilling out on the lake won’t be such a struggle anymore. Especially if a jet ski goes by, or the wind picks up a bit. That would be heavenly just to stay PUT!! I’m giving it 4 stars for now, just for what I can see of the quality out of the box (unfilled) & what I have read of the device for the price, but when trial time comes, it will either go up to a 5th star, or lose a star or more- maybe stay the same. Only time will tell, but I’m very excited about this product. It makes a lot of sense & sounds like a great invention. We shall see! I am positive & hopeful, but .. gotta wait & I'm looking forward to it 👍. 4 stars for now! Will update in early summer ☀️! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ** I hope my review is as helpful as it can be, thus far 😊. ** ... show more

  • Safer way to anchor a boat
I ordered this anchor to use with smaller boats such as a kayak, canoe, or small fishing boat. This seems like a safer option than the traditional steel blade anchors. Especially for kids/teens. The bag is well constructed of very heavy duty PVC. The metal champs at the end of the rope also seem strong and well made. My only concern is the 2 plastic loops on the bag itself where you are supposed to attach the rope clamps. I hope they withstand the weight and stress of pulling a very heavy, wet, bag of sand up through the water. Metal loops might have been a smarter design but we shall see. Will update the review after testing in multiple conditions. ... show more

  • Clever solution for a raft anchor
This is a smart solution for an anchor when you don't want to haul a heavy piece of metal around. You can just fill this "dry bag" with sand and use it to secure your raft. When you no longer need the dead weight you can empty the bag and it weighs ounces. I also like that it can be used as a actual dry bag otherwise. I am not that soaked on the anchor rope as it is a stiff poly line and I prefer a more robust rope. ... show more

  • Bigger Than I Expected
This works exactly for what it is advertised for: sand bag anchor. I use portable heavy lighting equipment and I thought to use it for stabilizing C-light stands. It's a bit large for that purpose, but I see it as a buoy or anchor on a boating trip, though. Durable and colorful.

  • Great Buoy!
This is a really nice anchor for small boats like our fish and ski boat we have. This sand bag buoy worked perfect for us.

  • Great dry bag, but maybe get a real anchor
This dry bag has become my de facto briefcase at work. It holds my laptop and basic paperwork and equipment when I’m going from one rainy outdoor field site to another. It was in a puddle all day yesterday and in torrential rain today and weathered just fine. The materiel is softer and more flexible than other dry bags I have owned - it has almost a buttery feel to it. It’s lovely, though I would not expect it to stand up to heavy abrasion. I live in the Pacific Northwest, where we have big waves, winds, currents, and lots of sharp things under the water. When I have a canoe, kayak, or small skiff I haul it up the beach and tie it to something fixed in place, like a large log or a tree. When I have something that’s too heavy to drag up a beach, I think it’s worthwhile to use a proper anchor. This is not a proper anchor. It might be fine for a super sandy beach without too much current or large tides. However, I’d want to make sure that the bag is flooded so that it’s no buoyant air is counteracting the mass of the rocks/sand, and I wouldn’t expect it to last for more than a weekend before chafing through the bag. Even then, you’re probably better off to set a more traditional anchor - even a mushroom anchor, if you don’t want sharp corners or anchor-setting technique - and then you’ll be able to rely on it with a much greater sense of security. You can even re-use the nifty anchor line that comes with this lovely dry bag. ... show more
