These are great hearing protection. They also make for really clear calls while in the workshop with the attached microphone. As for use as earbuds they are clear, but the noise cancelation is very noticeable in quiet environments. In louder environments listening to music you will not hear it, but there is a mild white noise when in lower volume environments which can be distracting. As for sound quality these are more hearing protection/ active noise cancelling first, and sound quality second. They sound fine, and for podcasts and audiobooks they are great. When listening to music though the experience is more like a mid grade ear bud than a high end headphone set like Libery 3 Pros or something higher end That really isn't their purpose so its just something to have in mind. I have a nicer sounding set of earphones, but for the Gym, workshop, shopping or anything with outside noise I am reaching for these IsoTunes and then reserving other earbuds for quiet hikes/jogs or home use. They are expensive for sure, but hard to put a price on good hearing protection that will save your ears and mean you can hopefully keep your hearing later in life. If your job or hobbies include loud environments I would consider these a worthwhile investment ... show more

I both love and hate these at the same time. Pros: Good hearing protection. I can listen to the the radio or a podcast while working, mowing, etc. Cons: They don't fit or seal well in your ear. The built in microphone (not boom microphone) is uselessly bad. Half the time, they don't turn off or chage when put in the case. Seems like a common problem based on online reveiws. ... show more

Well, it turns on. That is about all I can say good about this device. The first problem I ran into is that the ear piece foam does not stay compressed for very long. So if you can't pull up you left ear with you right hand from over your the top of your head in about 1/100th of a second and jam the left pod in your ear hole before the foam puffs back out. You'll never get a good seal. The device did sync to my phone and appear to work. But then, what difference does that make when it tells you the battery is low and stops working? Of course this is after you charge it. Oh, I did notice the volume didn't get very high so (compared to my Walkers), if you are wearing this at the range, you just may not hear that important call come in. Perhaps someone else had better luck with this brand. My experience with it compels me to advise others to avoid them. ... show more

Missing the simplest function, volume control. You can only control volume from your device/phone. Not by using any of the controls on the ear buds. The ear buds have really fancy controls for even the sensitivity of the hearing protection when using the "Aware Technology" which is a built in function to dampen the built in microphones from loud noises when they are active if desired. The controls on each ear bud are touch sensitive so not a button to press down on, really high quality technology but no simple volume control.. Also these don't allow more than 85db in volume and you might find that to not be as loud as others you might be used to. I think the boom mic is fantastic and being able to use it on either of the ear buds is even better! I am very pleased with that area of the product. The ear tips that you can choose from are almost all memory foam and I actually prefer silicone. There is a good selection of them but there is only one it comes with that's silicone and it's way too long for comfort, kinda painful to use. The other memory foam choices do cover a good variety if your more accustom to them. I do feel like these stick out kinda far as in the housings are a little big and the ear hook has some swivel motion to is and is even removable but I wish it was more secure feeling. The charging case is great quality and even has a spot for the boom mic, the boom mic is my favorite feature but there is definitely room for improvements with these ear buds in general. ... show more

    • I really wanted to like them
I was excited to try these earbuds but I had a hard time with them. Part of it is I don't care much for earbuds and prefer over the ear headsets. But I wanted to give them a chance. I found the eartips that were most comfortable but also gave the best seal. I paired them easily with my phone. But in most any circumstance that I would need to protect my hearing I'm not going to be listening to music or taking phone calls so that seemed a little silly. Of course that is my own situation and for others that may be exactly what they need them for. For me though I would rather just use simple $5 ear plugs or over the ear electronic shooting protectors. If I needed to take phone calls I would more likely use my pair of Sony WH-1000XM4 headphones. ... show more

These IsoTunes earbuds are great! These buds are the new era of hearing protection and utilize state of the art technology. The aware mode has 4 different levels, which you can adjust by tapping the left bud. You can control music and phone calls by tapping the right bud. And surprisingly these buds have great audio, music sounds clear and crisp. Very impressed with the audio quality! These are a bit bulky in the ear, but they do have clips for support. And you get 7 pairs of ear tips to find that perfect fit. The boom mic is a really great feature, you can be heard clearly in loud environments. When not using it, it stows away easily in the custom case. I work at a sawmill and these earbuds have performed exceptionally well so far! They won't allow anything above 85 decibels to enter your ear canal. The protection is immediate! And they have great battery life too. I really love these IsoTunes earbuds, and highly recommend them! ... show more
