I've used these for a few months and they are still very sharp. Now, I use them to cut zip ties, so I guess it depends on what you are cutting. They feel great!

Irwin makes great tools. The cutting edges are nicely ground and they meet perfectly. The grip is natural and nice. Buy them...or it...IDK.

    • Nice cutters only one issue
Sharp. No wobble, Nice rivet. Comfortable grips. The only issue is that the blades do not go back to the rivet so there is a gap. Looking at the photo in the ad, you can even see the air gap near the rivet. This means when you put your wire all the way "in" to get maximum leverage, say like you might need on this size cutter for #10 or #8 stranded, they don't cut through and you have to adjust a bit to get that last wire or piece of insulation. Not fatal but, so easy to correct and kind of annoying. Other than that, these are a great value. I carry them in my emergency car kit because living in California, where we have decriminalized theft up to $950, it seems to be lost or stolen often. My home set are Kleins for the 8" and Milwaukee for the 6". Both are about 2x the price of these but cut all the way to the rivet and are tougher steel. These are made in China, Klein in USA and Milwaukee in Vietnam. FYI. The craftsmanship on all three is about the same it is just the others are a better design (no gap) and use a tougher steel and edge material/finish. ... show more

    • Lost my last pair. Liked it so much, nought the same to replace.
I have used the Irwin wire cutters for years. Any wire cutters can go through copper with no trouble. I have used the Irwin to cut through every wire I have needed to cut, including thick steel. Cheap cutters will dent against that and be ruined. Trust me, I know. They are comfortable, sturdy and cut well. ... show more
