Recently received and so far mostly satisfied. One of the reasons I chose this one one over others is because the unit supports type 1 2 3 and four cassette tapes. I have numerous recorded cassette tapes from yester year and most are type 2. The sound quality is decent on unit. The radio tuner works well also I have not used the thumb drive. I did notice that the blue tooth works ok but not as loud as other functions. Over all a decent unit . The user manual was straight forward and the build quality seems good ... show more

The package arrived damaged-obviously occurred during transit. Only1deal immediately sent a replacement. We printed a return label they sent for the damaged product and shipped it back at no cost. The overall build quality is good, not up to the best of the 80's but good value for the price. Most switch gear is soft touch and smooth but not nearly as high quality as Panasonic or Sony from the 80's. The overall sound is good, about in line with an average 80's unit. Weaker bass than expected for a unit from ION but average for most 80's units. The clarity is great and easily tailored by the treble control. Bluetooth operation is flawless. The radio frequency indicator is sightly off but close enough to easily understand (95.1 is at 96 on this unit) Lots of of good options here with good sound quality. ... show more

This thing is everything we were hoping and expecting it would be. The Bluetooth connects well and stays connected for a good distance, the sound quality is excellent, the tape deck is super cool if you can find any old tapes, and the AM/FM has really good reception. For going portable you have to find D batteries and they don't have the world's longest battery life, but what do you expect it's an old school Boombox ... show more

This came to me missing one of the equalizer needles, Amazon gave me some money back... I should have returned it then. The tape player is horrible. Hortible sound. The rev button fell inside the machine and it ate my tape. Do not recommend.

    • This is EXACTLY what I've been looking for...
First off...I've been searching for an actual 80's boombox for quite a while. When I say "actual" I mean literally from the '80s...a Panasonic, Sony, etc that was built and used in the '80s. The issue is that to find one in good shape that works really well costs around $400. I've looked at the modern Bluetooth boomboxes before but reviews were iffy and I just wasn't impressed. BUT THEN...I found this. Now this thing may crap out in a month...but at the time of this review this thing is everything I wanted. THE SOUND It sounds as good or better than the vintage radios of my childhood. The tape player works great and the Bluetooth is flawless. RETRO FEEL This thing nails it. It's substantial. It doesn't feel cheap at all. Plastics are of good quality and the knobs are fluid and smooth. Some have complained that it doesn't come with a rechargeable battery. Honestly and personally, I don't care about that. I actually like the retro experience of clunking in 6 D batteries. Again..the reason I wanted this so badly was for the retro feel and this thing delivers! ... show more

A good unit and mostly representative of an 80s style boombox. It is loud and sounds good. Only two drawbacks are the power switch being located in the back of the unit rather than the tape function being the default "off" as with most 80s boomboxes...and the fact the unit varies slightly with the picture given (picture shows FM dial beginning at 88 mHz but the radio itself has "87.5" at the beginning of the dial). Neither issue really problematic, however. I would have preferred the dial wasn't shown on the radio as "87.5", as that was unheard of on an 80s boombox with analog tuning.
