  • Does not work as advertised
The deodorizer does not turn off automatically after a minute as stated in the manual; it does not turn off on its own at all; I found it running hours after last use on several occasions (it makes a humming noise to make it obvious). After that I manually turn it off. This is something other users have also reported before, so I expected that it should be fixed by now, but obviously not. This is a major annoyance when you are using the toilet in the middle of the night and you have the fumble with remote (it is not back lighted) to find the button for the deodorizer in a half asleep state. Considering how much this unit costs, I consider this to be unacceptable. This is the first time I am using a bidet so I cannot comment on if it is otherwise a good product or not. ... show more

  • A bit pricey but good function
We've gone through quite a few bidets over the past 20 years that we've been using them. This is what I would consider an upper mid-level bidet in terms of features but I think the selling price is a little higher than it should be for the features it has. It's heated seat warms the whole seat consistently without any cold spots and living in a colder climate this is such an important feature to me. The stream is adjustable. You can choose settings like front or back cleaning. I don't feel the front comes forward enough even with adjustments and I have to lean very far forward and start lifting from the seat in order to get a god clean in the front. The back cleaning is fine. You can chose back or strong for rear cleaning, I don't find back cleaning to be strong enough on it's strongest setting but the strong on it's strongest setting is pretty powerful. The kids setting is a little more gentle as most children don't like a strong stream and can get frightened by it. If this is going to be your first bidet installation make sure you will have all the parts you need and watch an installation video first. It's always a little more complicated than installing a regular toilet seat. You will need to have an available outlet close by and the cords on any bidet are generally short. On our downstairs bathroom our outlet is far enough that we had to buy a short extension cord to use our bidet in our upstairs it's close enough we've never had a problem just plugging right in. Most of these seats come with plastic bolts, they usually hold up pretty well. This seat is no exception, its plastic parts are about the same as any other. If you've installed the plate and bolts correctly and tightened it enough, your seat shouldn't move and should stay firmly in place. Because of the warming tank which gives you warm water instead of just cold water you'll lose a little seat space. For elongated sets it goes from being a roomy elongated seat to a modest sized seat closer to the size or a round toilet seat. It's a little roomier but not much. If you have hard water you'll want to pick up a filter as mineral deposits will decrease the life of your bidet. You will also generally need a splitter so that water can go to the toilets tank and the seats tank. Some plumbers tape to make sure you have a good seal on all joints will also be a good idea. I would say it typically takes us around an hour to install a new seat and I think this one was right about that same amount of time. If you've never done it before plan for a little extra time. I hated the included instructions, they were too small for me to read, but we have installed similar bidets before so we didn't need them. If you're needing help installing this and can't read the direction we've used our phones to take a picture of small directions and then enlarged the photos. As a heads up our experience with about 20 years of using these types of bidets is that most models only last about 2 years before needing to be replaced. I expect this will likely be the same. You should factor in that approximate life span into whether you think the price and feature are worth it. Overall this functions well, is relatively comfortable, and has good features. It's on the upper end of the mid-level model range in price but does offer good functionality. ... show more

  • Decent Features, Mid Grade Performance.
I do like the low profile design. It looks nicer than many other models that are larger. The remote is good and the feature set has everything plus a night light. The performance however isn't as good as the Toto that I am currently using. My first Toto lasted 15 years and the second is now going on 6 years. This one is just slower to initiate the cleansing spray to begin as well as to stop and self clean and turn off. The slight lag is noticeable to me. However if this is your first bidet then you might not care about that. The heated water and seat are good. You can dial in the right temperature. The spray patterns are good too. The hoses and connections are secure. 4 stars. ... show more

  • Lots of Features
So, to set this up, you need an elongated toilet, apparently ours is a smaller, round size. You also need an outlet available pretty close to where you're going to use it, and ours was on the opposite wall. That said, we set it up and tried to use it anyway for a few weeks. It's very comfortable and closes silently. I was exceptionally disappointed that it didn't work out like I was hoping, but it was very nice anyway. ... show more

  • Easily installed by anyone, no plumber needed.
I have used bidet seats for a couple of years. I currently own a Brondell S1400 Swash. I wanted another for the second bath and ordered this. The R52 Bidet Seat was about 1/2 the cost of the Brondell (from when I purchased it). Most people frown on seeing a bidet seat, or flat out are afraid of them. I was forced into one after my fifth set of shoulder surgeries. All I can say is they don't know what they're missing! You can't get as nice a clean with paper products or wipes, and wipes are neither healthy nor (I don't care what the package says) flushable! On to the Bidet seat itself. Pros: . Easily installed with simple tools (I used channel locks and an adjustable wrench). Hardest part was getting off the old seat! . Easily removed for deep cleaning your toilet with a small push lever on the bottom right side. . All the features of a high end bidet seat. . Provides a laminated instruction card for all functions (unluckily you will need it). Cons: . Although it has all the functionality of a high end bidet seat I felt this was just a minor league version of the pros. . The remote control has fewer buttons than my other and requires you to "tap twice" to do different unmarked functions. . The remote does not have programmable multi user settings, it only remembers that settings from the last user. Sort of like my old truck after my Ex got out and left the seat all the way forward. . The deodorizer has a mind of its own. I find it constantly running, I have to turn it off manually. . The water heating element causes my lights to flicker. Overall for the price the R52 isn't horrible, it's just that comparatively to the Brondell, it falls short. Spend a little extra, you're worth it, and get a much better bidet seat. ... show more
