  • Kindle Oasis: A Remarkable Reading Companion
I recently acquired the Kindle Oasis, and I couldn't be more pleased with my purchase! Firstly, I was amazed by how swiftly it arrived. It was delivered in impeccable condition, and the delivery time was unbelievably short – a testament to the efficiency of the service. Upon unboxing, I was immediately impressed by the device's sleek design and premium build quality. The display is crisp and sharp, making reading a delightful experience. The adjustable warm light feature is a fantastic addition, allowing for comfortable reading in any lighting conditions. One aspect that truly stands out is the value for money. Despite being packed with features, the Kindle Oasis offers exceptional value compared to other e-readers on the market. It's a worthwhile investment for any avid reader. However, I must mention one minor drawback: the battery life when data is on. It's disappointing that the battery drains faster in this mode. Nevertheless, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the Kindle Oasis can last for weeks on flight mode, making it ideal for long trips or extended reading sessions without access to a power source. Overall, the Kindle Oasis exceeds expectations in terms of design, performance, and value. Despite the slight issue with battery life when data is on, it remains an outstanding e-reader that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a premium reading experience. ... show more

  • The best Kindle so far
Compared to my older 5th gen Paperwhite with its 6", the Oasis has a larger 6.8" but the difference isn't that much in using them. Both are excellent e-book readers that are easy to hold with one hand or stuff in a carry bag. The 10 years gap between them is mostly evident on how they both do those things. The Oasis software is better. There's a wider range of fonts to choose from, the access to the menus is faster and they are better laid out. One of the niceties present on the Oasis but missing on the older Paperwhite is the ability to display on the lock screen the cover of the book I'm currently reading. The best is the hardware of the Oasis. It feels faster and snappier to use. The light is now customizable with a warm and auto setting - which is nice to have, and it has buttons. These buttons are what makes the Oasis the best Kindle currently available to purchase because they makes it easier to navigate a book and can be used with the thumb of same hand that hold the kindle. I wish that more Kindles had this feature ... show more

  • I am in love with this kindle
Great purchase, worth every dollar (even though I bought it on sale). Very happy with it; the buttons on it are EVERYTHING. I love that the screen rotates depending on which side you are holding and I like that the brightness changes depending on the environment. As many people said, the battery life is not that good, but honestly? Just charge it. It is not that big of a deal in my opinion. ... show more

  • All the other reviews were right, the battery life sucks on this.
Other than the poor battery life, this is a solid kindle, I love the self dimming LED lights, the page buttons, however I was used to swiping the screen, and I do that more than using the buttons.

  • Read an entire book the day I got it
It will become one of the electronic loves of my life. I love it already. I read one book the day I got it and I haven’t done that in years. It is comfortable on the eyes, easy to hold, incredibly light, beautiful in form and function. I highly recommend it, even in 2024. It makes reading very, very easy and encouraging. I do admit that seeing the percentage of the book completed and pages remaining are a great psychological push to keep reading. Thank you Amazon. ... show more

  • Absolute Horrific Customer Service Experience
I was sooooo extremely excited to receive this rather obscure Kindle model. Three weeks, 6+ hours on the phone with customer service, an unnecessary 2-hour trip to stand in front of an address in Colombia between 7 and 8 p.m. based on a service rep’s (obviously) bad advice, and a great deal of stress later, I finally have it! It’s in my hands. And I no longer care. While I no longer much care about the Kindle Oasis, I am left feeling bitter and disappointed by a version of Amazon I could hardly recognize. In my last of so many unnecessary, mostly wasted customer service calls, I politely asked the rep if he agreed that I ought to receive some sort of compensation for my ordeal and time in dealing with customer service — after having been promised so much by the previous rep from whom I’d been transferred. In response, I was offered a $10 gift card. I pushed back politely and was met with arrogant disdain, told I’d been offered compensation despite that it "wasn't required." Within less than 60 seconds of his initial offer, the $10 gift card was now off the table too. I was left wanting to laugh/cry/scream all at once. And I’m sitting here still pondering why any of this happened. I want to chalk that last bit up to cultural differences that might exist between me and the heavy-accented rep on the other end of the line. Part of me wonders whether Amazon, a company I’ve historically loved, is showing signs of decline — or perhaps its customers in South America are just an afterthought. TLDR; this international version isn’t worth the international headache you’ll undoubtedly endure to receive it because Amazon’s overseas logistics are a hot mess. Oh, and Amazon's customer service regarding its own severely botched fulfillment of its own product? I wish such suffering on no one. ... show more

  • Best kindle I ever had
Since the first kindle, I always had an extra need with them “it could be touch”, “it could have backlight”, “it could have IP protection for water”, “it could have a different distribution of the weight”… and so on. This is the perfect kindle. Battery last almost as the same as the paperwhite (I have always WiFi on), weight for reading is in the perfect spot as the Kindle is not flat, the grip makes it so easy to use with one hand (for small hands as mine) because you can navigate with the buttons or with the touch screen. Warm/bright light is ideal for when is late and the natural light is changing. I do recommend buying a case for it for extra protection. ... show more
