  • Very impressed, I can now do indoors what I normally had to go out to garage to do.
The latest addition to my gunsmithing tools. This little vise is great and very useful. I can now perform several tasks that I normally would have had to go out to my garage and do on my other vise. Even though it's a 3", it is well constructed, very sturdy and amazingly very solid when clamped on to table. Instead of buying an expensive gun vise, with this one and a vise block I can do everything. I will definitely use it for other purposes, but very happy with it now. Serves very well the purpose I bought it for. ... show more

  • I'm impressed
This thing is small but works awesome. I bought it to hold on to vice blocks when changing parts on my guns and it works great.

  • Cheap and not worth buying
The bottom broke and it made of very very cheap material . I won’t recommend this to anyone. Just go to your local store and spend the money.

  • Fine For Very Light Work But the Weak Bench Attachment Base/Clamp Will Slip Easily
This is a small vise. This small vise weighs only .75 lb while a larger more rugged 4" vise weighs closer to 10lbs. This small vise is made of iron of course with an enameled paint which for a time will protect from rust but from use, such as missed hammer strikes, will eventually chip off. An improvement to the design would have been widening the base and add mounting holes for a strong attachment to the bench. Currently, tighten as best you can on the bench, it will twist and turn when trying to muscle metal to bend it for example. With only the clamp, it's only meant for light-duty work which is fine. A necessary improvement would have been to provide better covers for the jaws to prevent damaging the material in work. It comes with soft plastic covers but they dont fit well and fall off. You can make your own. There are 2 Phillips screws on each jaw that can be removed and a wood plate added held on with the same screws. Most strong workbenches meant for real rugged work, will be 1.5 to 2" thick and the clamp here will provide a 2.6" throat. Unfortunately, the small base, about 2", without any mechanical mounting will easily twist under load. There will be no way to clamp it tight enough to prevent this. The jaws will rotate 360 degrees which most bench vises do and is an important feature to orient the work. Another issue is the sharp sides on all of the clamping edges. These can be filed down, but just like the over spray of paint, the sharp edges show how the finish is not the best. At a cost new of around $20 you really need a light-duty vise weighing in at .75 lbs while a typical 4" jaw vise weighting in at 10lbs bolts to the bench can be had for $33. Conclusion: For light-duty, i.e., holding items, for inspection or soldering and that doesn't require a strong attachment to the bench it's fine. If you're going to hammer and want a strong grip you'll want a larger vise. ... show more

  • Small but good
If you’re in need of a small work bench clamp you can’t really go wrong with this clamp. I stress the small size not to put it down because sometimes small is absolutely what you need and this fits the bill perfectly. I have a mobile shop cart that has a medium sized clamp on it permanently attached to the top base. This means until now I’ve only ever been able to clamp something in a vertical position (as the jaws open horizontally the object goes in vertically). I modified my cart slightly by adding a period of MDF to the opposite side of the cart so I can clamp it vertically to the cart so that my object is inserted in the jaws horizontally. This has given me many more options for which I am grateful for. The clamp itself is heavy iron with a thick coat of enameled paint to protect you and the surface of the clamp. All parts spin without resistance and the jaws move without any issues and clamp down hard. I personally think it’s a positive feature that it’s not a permanently installed vice as it’s so small. This way you can move it around the shop as needed. If I have a complaint I’d wish the soft plastic pads to be made from rubber and be more down fitting to the vice parts. As it is now the pad parts tend to just simply fall off the jaws or move and twist account the portion that secured the clamp to your work space. All in all I very nice portable small bench vice. ... show more
