Highly recommend these breakaway clips instead of expensive breakaway leads! Plastic is much safer for your horses eyes in case of snapback. If you have a horse that pulls back when tied, these are a must plus they easily slide into your pocket, bag, or ride on your trailer hooks. Pretty colors and they adjust in size. ... show more

I bought these cause I put hitching rings on my deck and didn't want to have my horse rip my deck apart if they pulled back. They usually stand nicely and I don't have to worry but as a fail safe they work well! They would work great in emergencies when you can't untie them quickly, they just give and open at a certain pressure point. My horse set back when tied in the trailer once and I REALLY wished I had these when that happened. I will be using them if I tie up in the trailer again just in case. ... show more

It is very hard to get the teeth to line up to lock the loop, and then they sometimes break free just from the pressure of trying to tie the lead rope. I'm using these in my trailer, so I think it will be ok, but I would not trust them to use at the barn or tie outside my trailer.
