I needed a pen next to my barn so my chickens could be safe if I’m away from home. I built one yrs ago but it was so heavy I couldn’t move it to mow or anything. This is not super strong but I don’t think a raccoon could get in and that’s our biggest predator other than hawks/owls. It takes MUCH longer than 30 min to assemble mostly because there are NO instructions and nothing is marked. Nothing online either. I mounted mine on 2 x 4 x 12’ boards and added wheels that come off easily when I’m not moving it around. For a small yd it could easily be used as a chicken tractor. I have a huge fenced field for my hens so I won’t be moving it much I’m very happy with how it looks and functions ... show more

    • Good as a temporary coop
I bought this as a temporary outdoor coop for my chicken when they were chicks. Very easy to put together, sturdy and not too heavy to move around the yard like a chicken tractor without wheels. I like the roof covering, it gave them much needed shade when they’re out in the sun. My chickens grew out of them but I still use it as an indoor isolation coop when one or two of my chickens get sick and they needed to be separated from the flock to recuperate.     • Cheap but does what it needs to
It’s definitely rickety and we (fortunately) haven’t seen how it holds up against predators, but it’s held up to the elements so far and our chickens enjoy it. It’s the same material as a metal dog crate but doesn’t lock in the same so it’s pretty flimsy - makes it fairly easy to move though (until you stake it in). It could definitely use another stabilizer bar. Assembly instructions leave much to be desired but it’s not too terrible to figure out. It’s a little smaller than you think so I’m considering buying a second, but overall I’d say it’s a bit overpriced so I’m not thrilled at the prospect. ... show more

    • Works for what I intended it to do quite nicely
I purchased this to place inside an already protected chicken run to allow baby chickens and hens to acclimate seeing each other for a couple of weeks before releasing with the flock. Works perfectly for me. Have done that twice this year. Then when done, take apart, fold down, put away. Hens can't get to them, and chicks weren't able to get out. Plenty of room for food and water for 8-12 baby chicks at 6 weeks old and keep them in there for 2-3 weeks with no issues :) Loved the top opening in the roof part as it made it easier to not have to bend down to floor to replace food and water and clean :) ... show more

    • Not Ideal for Kitten Fostering

I purchased this playpen to use for kitten fostering. The instructions are not very user friendly. I was able to put it together by myself but it took a bit of trial and error and much frustration and time. The kittens I'm fostering have ringworm so I wanted something that would allow me to keep them contained to a defined area. The biggest issue for my intended use is that it's not easy to access the inside for cleaning at all. The doors are very small. Despite having a smaller frame, getting my shoulders through the door to lean in to try to access to clean is a tight fit and because of the location of the doors it's impossible for me to access all areas inside for cleaning. The doors are secure so long as you make sure it's latched completely and then insert the provided clip however I have on several occasions thought it was latched and inserted the clip only to come in later to find the kittens out of the playpen because it in fact wasn't actually latched. I won't try to use this for fostering kittens again and once they're released for adoption I'll probably just try to sell it. It may be fine for the intended purpose of chickens outdoors but figured I'd thow it out there for anyone like me who is always looking for something to use for kitten fostering that it doesn't work great for that purpose. Edited to add that it's also extremely difficult to access kittens who are trying to evade you using this enclosure. ... show more

    • For handicapped chicken
We have a chicken, hen, who lost the use of her legs. We had to segregate her from her siblings. Through daily physical therapy and the God's grace, she regained most of her ability to stand & walk, she still needs to be segregated in a safe place. This chicken run mounted easily to the cage she now calls home and it provides for a safe daytime run for her. It was easy and quick to put together and has plenty of doors. The tarp-like top is a but flimsy but works as a partial sunshade. All in all it serves it's purpose ... show more

The chinckens do great in this and it is able to be picked up by the 2 of us and move it around the yard. Great deal for the price.

I bought 2. One for chickens and I used half of it in one place and half of it in another place with baby chicks. And another one for kittens. Lots of doors and study enough.
