We will be going on vacation in a couple weeks. Rather than rely on a kids tube, having a best seemed better for snorkeling. The best material feels pretty durable. The inner tube is sealed both with a pressed seam and the outer stitching. The only way to inflate it is using the black tube. You must push down the piece to open the valve. The same goes for deflating it. It seems like a good safety measure rathe than a plastic opening. The straps are necessary for use. Adjust them before going in the water. If you try to wear the vest without securing the straps, the vest will ride up and make it difficult to move around in the water. It did take some time to adjust the waist and crotch straps. Any straps around buckles need to be loosened to be able to adjust to your preferred size. The waist strap alone was not effective. Only when I tightened the crotch strap did the vest stay down in a good position for me to be able to float on my belly so I could look down into the water. If you don’t like dealing with multiple straps you may want to consider a different snorkeling vest. For the price and ability to pack this flat in the suitcase, it’s a great option to have. ... show more

I took this snorkel vest to use on our recent Caribbean vacation. If you snorkel for a decent amount of time, this is a necessity for peaceful relaxing hovering during your exploration. It folds down to a nice compact size that easily fits in a backpack or suitcase. The straps are easy to adjust, stay where you put them and the buckles are secure. The vest is easy to inflate or deflate via the chest valve stem. The valve stem is located properly for easy access while in the water. My only issue (not a big one) is the size of the compression ring. This is the ring used to open and close the spring loaded valve. I wish it could be a slightly larger diameter for easier operation. I am an average height 175lb adult. The vest fit me well and kept me comfortably buoyant. The quality is decent, and it feels as though, if properly maintained, it should last reasonable amount of time. The seems appear to be well made. This buoyancy vest has many belts so you can securely wrap it around yourself and attach it securely. It seems to be well made and has a very bright color. However, it is very hard to inflate. I was blowing into it for over two minutes and couldn’t inflate it

This vest is perfect for snorkeling. It folds into a small size and fits in the included bag, making it ideal for travel. My previous preferred method when snorkeling was to us a foam pool noodle, but this vest is so much better. The manufacturer cautions that this isn't a life vest and shouldn't be used as one. I definitely wouldn't trust it for that purpose (like when paddle boarding or kayaking), but for snorkeling it provides adequate flotation. The staps to secure the vest are a little funky. The one that goes around your waist is fine, but the other one is intended to go around your shoulders and feels a little weird. Straps also cinch up after you inflate the vest, so you'll need to make final adjustments. Inflating and deflating the vest is straightforward. There are fancier inflatable vests available, but unless you snorkel frequently there's no need to spend a lot more when this vest will do the job for occasional use. The price is reasonable, and as I said, it works a lot better than a pool noodle. ... show more

This is exactly what I need for occasional travel snorkeling. Price at time of review: $15.99 THE GOOD 1. It works. It does exactly what I need it to do. It keeps me afloat enough to safely snorkel. 2. It's compact for travel. I can deflate this and roll it up. It takes up less room than a tee shirt. 3. It's comfortable enough to use. It doesn't matter the brand, these things are never comfortable. But, a good one should not be uncomfortable. This one provides no discomfort. 4. Easy to inflate. Even better, should you want more or less inflation, that can easily be done while in the water. 5. Competitively priced. THE BAD 1. The straps are tough to adjust, but that's because the slack is overlapped in the adjuster. Just loose that up, and you are good to go. THE UGLY 1. Nothing ugly about this. This is a decent snorkeling vest. The inflator tube is a bit more difficult to use than other vests I wore before. It takes harder, stronger breaths to inflate. If you use it for a child you might need to help. The material is comparable to snorkel vests on commercial tour boats. The price of $15 is great for this product. If you want your own vest to (maybe) practice floating before your trip I highly recommend to give it a try! ... show more

I picked this up for my daughter for an upcoming snorkel trip and so far we've been happy. Features I like: it works and portable for travel. It is on the bulkier side though and because of that it seems to constrain some movement but generally we're happy because it does ease the fear when in open water.
