They are as expected, based on product description, photos, and customer reviews. The assembly wasn't too bad. My husband did it. I think I would have had a little trouble. Mostly just because the pipes didn't line up with the studs in the walls, at all. They include these little plastic, rivet things to help secure the screws in the drywall tho. I personally think the shelves could have used a better coating of stain. Wouldn't be a big deal to restain them myself. They're beautiful shelves. Very sturdy, and heavy. Real wood, and heavy metal pipes. These were purchased for my teenage son who wanted shelves in his room to display his collections. They were a birthday gift, and he loves them. Very cool industrial look. I placed some items on the shelves for the photos to give an idea of how spacious the shelves are. The framed star wars picture in the photo is 9 by 11 inches. Most of my son's collectables can fit on the shelves, and anything too tall can fit on the top shelf. The shelf depth is good too. I didn't measure but I'd say it's the 10 inches mentioned in the description. I would buy again. And I may! I'm in love with these shelves and am honestly kinda jealous!! Lol These would be great in the laundry room, pantry, living room, or rec room in my house. Ooh! Maybe for a bar area in the rec room!? IDK. There is only 12 inches between shelves, so maybe not for a bar. ... show more

The shelves are wood, the smell was great, and as a 50 something woman with fairly significant back issues the only things I needed help with were toting the box(heavy!) and screwing in the top screws(easier than wangjangling the ladder). This was a breeze to put together and is currently housing a load of books and funkos. I couldn't stack the funkos unfortunately (the shelves are not quite high enough)but a 2x4 laid horizontal with a vertical one on top made a nice back tier! I can't stop admiring it!!! ... show more

Wow!!! I needed a better solution for our books which were scattered all over the house but it's really hard to find a bookshelf that accommodates baseboard heating. I noticed another reviewer who modified their shelf to sit over the baseboard and I decided to give it a try! It works so well that after installing the first shelf we had bought (on the right) , we ended up buying a second one! I'm still in awe with these shelves. And I can't even believe they made them at the odd size of 59. Because anything even a few mm larger would not fit!!!! These are right against the wall then the window sill, then window sill to wall. I was looking for industrial pipes to paint gold and add white wood shelves to... imagine my delight when I saw this shelving unit! I bought it so quickly! The other reviews were right, the wood shelves are solid wood! The white ones have a kind of thick lacquer on top and sides of each wood panel, but you can see the wood grain on the bottom. The listing didn’t have great measurements, and some of the Q&As had conflicting answers, so I included them in my pictures. (Approx. 6” floor clearance, 9.75” shelf depth, and approx 26” from pipe to pipe on each shelf.) We needed it to go over the vent and the shelf was unfortunately not tall enough. Luckily my husband is handy with a table saw and cut out a notch so it could fit perfectly centered on the wall. It helped that the panel was real wood. Easy to cut! We used the wall anchors they included and haven’t had any issues so far. It seemed quite sturdy even before we anchored it. (But definitely anchor it!! Or else it will tip over lol.) I wasn't sure about this because there were few reviews, but I'm happy I took the risk. Surprisingly, the shelves are actual wood planks, not mdf or particle board. One side is well finished and sealed, and the other side is just stained, matte, and more brown than warm. You can flip the boards to use either side. It came super well packaged but had one small repaired crack in the end of one board. Because it's real wood, this was fine for me, and I know it'll last. The one caution I would give would be directions. It's all photos, no words. Sort out all the parts into piles before hand so you can read the drawing easily. But don't drill and screw the first set of discs into the wall until you fully assembled the shelving and also drill out holes for the top discs! It's not in the directions, but it's essential to using the wall anchors. If you build and attach it correctly, it's very sturdy and looks more expensive than the $300 I paid for it. ... show more
