This product was just what I needed except that I didn't know I needed it and I didn't know it existed. I came across it by chance on Amazon. I use it to heat water in a 2.5 gallon Arrow beverage dispenser. I don't heat beverages, just water for washing hands and stuff. The hot water at my sink takes longer than I like to wait for, so I keep that water dispenser at the sink filled with warm water during the colder months so I can instantly have warm water if I need to quickly wash my hands or some things. Now, I don't need to waste the cold water from my tap before the hot water comes when I fill the water dispenser. Additionally, if the water in the dispenser gets uncomfortably cold after several hours of non-use, I can quickly warm it up with this heater device. No need to throw it out and fill it up at the tap again. Depending on how cold the water in the dispenser is, my experience is that it only takes about two to three minutes to warm the water up. Sometimes, when I know I will not be using the water for a while, I leave it on for maybe an extra minute or two so the water gets warmer and will stay warm longer. The Arrow dispenser is perfect for my purpose because the diameter of the fill hole is about 3.5 inches and it allows easy insertion and removal of the heater device into and from the dispenser. The heater device is very convenient and easy to use for my purpose. I like that in addition to the holes on the metal tube of the device, there is also a hole on the plastic end that is opposite to the plastic end where the wire enters the device. It allows the water to instantly drain from the device back into the dispenser as I am lifting it out of the dispenser. No need to wait for it to drain. It is fast and no watery mess. Since I heat the water only to a temperature that is safe for hand washing, I find that I do not even need to wait a minute or two as stated in the instructions before touching the device after unplugging it. I usually just wait 5 seconds out of an abundance of caution after unplugging it in case there is still some electricity running through the device. I am confident there is none but I wait 5 seconds nonetheless. I am not suggesting you ignore the manufacturer's instructions to wait a couple of minutes. I am just telling you my experience with the way I use it and the risk I take myself. Make sure you heed the manufacturer's instructions to completely submerge the device in water before plugging it in. The heat is almost instantaneous and you don't want to be holding the device after plugging it in. A thermometer is included for measuring the temperature of the water but I have never used it for that purpose. After I unpacked the device, I left the thermometer on the table and later noticed that the temperature reading was very accurate. It was the same reading as my indoor thermometer. I live in Florida, where summer and fall storm are abundant, and result in frequent power outages. I got this so that I could heat a big pot of water quickly using a small generator, and have hot water for baths and washing dishes. Inexpensive and heats water quickly. Shock risk: Not for kids!

I use mine off-grid hooked up to a 2000w Generator in my RV and it does what it's meant to: The wand itself is a little larger than I had imagined but it fits through the opening on my standard blue 5 gallon water tote, doesn't melt the plastic and heats the water relatively quickly; so I'm happy a happy camper... literally. Only thing I would say is that an on/off switch would be a nice addition as currently you must unplug to power it off, but I remedied this using a switched socket adapter/extension cord (mine is controlled by smart socket so I don't even have to risk touching anything when I have wet hands). ... show more
