Ordered this to use to easily disconnect my RV battery to prevent it from draining when parked/stored without being plugged in. This unit has multiple "smart" protections built in, as listed in the description and manual. This includes the "OFF" function not working when the voltage is over 13.2 volts (ie: when a car is running and alternator is charging or when an RV is plugged in and the power supply is charging). What I believe I have discovered on my own, and is not included in any information anywhere that I can find, is that the "OFF" function will not work when there is a load on the battery that is over some threshold. I haven't yet pinpointed the exact current that blocks the off function, as it almost seems to vary at times, but it seems to be fairly low. What this means is, that if anything is drawing current beyond some moderate draw, this device can't be turned off. If I'm wrong, and this is not an intentionally engineered feature, I guess it's just strangely defective... Whatever the case, this is inconvenient if too much is left switched on in the vehicle and could potentially make it of no use in some applications. Another feature is built-in battery drain protection that automatically switches to off/disconnects the battery when voltage drops below 11.8 volts., That feature by itself is actually pretty nice to have in my scenario. Quality seems ok, but a little too soon to tell about long-term reliability. The audible beep confirmations are loud and clear, which is nice for confirmation that the RF is getting to the unit even if the unit and its LEDs aren't in a visible location. ... show more

    • Great for project truck
I use them on project trucks because at night I can disconnect battery without pulling cables off at night. My boat drains battery after sitting for a week and is great for disconnecting it so I don’t have to raise the hatch.

    • Doesn't work
Ordered this and installed it on a truck I have that I use for plowing and hauling dirt. I never used any accessory while it was connected to the battery other than just starting the truck. Once installed, I tested it and the buttons on the actual switch worked perfectly.... But on the remotes, only the ON button worked and not the OFF button. Then today, I went to turn it on and at first it worked.... Then I shut off the truck and went to turn off the switch and the protection light came on. So I disconnected the switch figuring that maybe it would reset it, but no. After I hooked everything back up, the "WORK" light stays on but none of the other lights come on. The switch seems disabled and no long connects the battery to the truck. Would definitely not recommend this. ... show more

Got this for my boat to use during the off season when it was out of water. The system works great. Does exactly as advertised. Can be used in many applications but the boat was in my case.
