OK, after reading and rereading the so-so directions and measuring the various components, we finnaly got a working solution. I used only one of the covers and one set of the 'angle irons', which are basically the framework for the hood to mount to the ceiling plate. I did make a 2x4 box that I fastened betwen the ceiling joists in the attic and attach the top plate to from below- this is a heavy hood. First note- the fan outlet idoes not end up directly in line with the hole in the ceiling mounting plate, so you do need that piece of flex. I could only use one of the cover sections, so I used the one with the ventilation holes as that was the tightest fit to the 'angle irons' The hood canopy is attached to the main blower housing with 14 screws. If you take out the filter screens, it's pretty simple to disconnect the wiring to the switch keypads. then removing the 14 screws, you can separate the canopy section from the blower housing, hang the blower housing from the 'angle irons' connect and seal your duct work, and then slide the single piece of cover over everything and attach with the screws. Our counters are 36" high. so I just set a folding table(30'tall) on top of the counter, straddling the stove below, and that helped me support the blower section and the canopy in place while I put it all together and refastened the canopy to the blower housing. The finished product is 27-1/4" from the ceiling, 30.5" above the counter top- and this setup left just enough(3/8") to be able to get those 14 screws back into fasten the canopy. We have the 36" wide, so I bought a 16" phillips screwdriver for $9 to be able to get into the screws with the least hassle. Reattached the wiring and it's all set If you are able to see over the top of the canopy, you can see the screw heads, but I'm working out some trim. They still looked finished in there, and even of you did it like they said, the other cover piece would just have dropped down onto the canopy surface with absolutely no fastening of any kind. It is a good hood, good suction and quiet with good lighting, I was also glad to remove some of the weight by ditching the other angle irons and sheet. It is a very solid mount, very impressed with that, was worried that it might be a bit flimsy- it's not. Be sure you have enough makeup air in your house to get the best performance. ... show more

It was easy to install with all hardware included. I was skeptical when I read some reviews that complained about no suction, but my 900 CFM range hood had great suction. It has four levels, we used level 3 for most cooking which had a strong smell and a lot of steam or smoke such as fried/sheared/grilled food. Our ranch hood was about 32" from the stove. My husband and I purchased the iktch Range Hood a little over a year ago. Everything was great with the hood and it really made our kitchen stand out. It is aesthetically appealing to the eye and we really like the fact that you can just wave your head across the unit to turn the fan off and on. Recently, we ran into a problem with the unit. We contacted iktch support and they were very prompt with a response. After all efforts put forth by the iktch support team we were unable to correct the issue. Today we received a brand new unit. There was no hassle, no fuss, and no long wait period. We would like to say thank you to the iktch support team and their professionalism in resolving this for us. I needed a hood to suck grill smoke out of my outdoor kitchen area. It is under a flat roof section against a window into kitchen. So very important to NOT have a lot of smoke as the wind will push it into any opening on this side of house. Everything I read said to get a 1200+ cfm fan, but I found none with such a nice low profile as this one, although it is 900 cfm. It does an adequate job of removing most smoke, but not all of it as is probably to be expected. To further reduce effectiveness, It would have blocked our views if set the recommended 33" above grill surface, so we are quite a bit higher. The fan is truly quiet and no issues with gesture controls or using remote. The lighting is more than adequate. My biggest challenge was having to mount closer to the roof than the included square duct covers would allow. I had to cut metal brackets and shrouds down with a metal cutoff saw, which turned out being much easier than it sounds. So if you are at all handy or have a handy person assisting, do NOT let this factor stop you from buying. It can be done! I feel this is ideally suited for over a standard range, but also works okay for over a grill. Problem is when grill lid is closed, the smoke comes out the back well behind the vents and when grill lid is open, the smoke comes out well in front of the vents. I added Plexiglas to divert the smoke from back up into vents that I remove after cooking. (not shown). I am working on a more permanent solution for basically expanding the hood wider and lower with plexiglass to not block window AND capture more smoke. Bottom line is I would buy this again. It is beautiful and well made and great stainless steel. It gets 65% of the smoke out of the area and my wife loves it. The latter being very important! Oh, and the price was right too. ... show more

We get lots of compliments on this stylish hood. It’s fairly quiet- way quieter than the one we had before, and the fan, even on low, sucks the steam and such straight out. Easy to clean. The only thing I wish for is that the lights could be turned up a bit brighter- I like a lot of light when I am cooking. ... show more
