  • Sweet like cake 🍰
Color: Black
I absolutely love. The Iloud. Speakers. They are very, very sweet, very detailed. Very open. Definitely defy their size. I however. Have had hundreds of speakers over the years. And I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised by these. Sometimes you find a little jewel. And these happen to be at. If you can afford them. I recommend them highly. The mid range. Sweet. Like a high end speaker. I really enjoyed the highs on these speakers. They never were ear fatiguing. You can listen to them for hours. And the cool part? The connectivity was great. A little basement room maybe? An office. An office setting. They look good wherever you put down. The base was unbelievable. I was very, very pleasantly surprised. You have a home run. ... show more

  • Really good sound!
Color: Black
These desktop speakers were reviewed in Stereophile's online mag. They were very complimentary. I bought them because they are one of the only small speakers that have their own calibration dsp built in. Think Audissey but for 2 speakers. They come with their own mic and setup is a breeze. They sound is awesome. Better than anything I have tried in the past. They are really pricey though, but in this case I am very satisfied. Could you do the same thing with offboard dsp's and a separate software package, sure, but with these, push a button and they setup and you're done. Each speaker has 2 amplifiers to drive them. More than enough power. They are very sensitive, however. If your PC doesn't have a super clean power supply, you will get noise. Just use an isolation transformer and you'll be fine. There are easy inline versions available on Amazon that are also hi fidelity. See my other review. Battery powered devices like DAP's are noise free. ... show more

  • Surprised & Impressed ... even with a Glaring Flaw
Color: Black
Ordered 2 from Mugan Music Group through Prime. I've only had these a couple of days but I really like them. I didn't think the original iLoud's were all that great when I listened to them in a music store's 'studio room', but the MTMs are in a completely different league. **I have not yet broken these in all the way** so this review is based on 2 days of listening to several genres of music (Thomas Newman, Archspire, Jill Scott, The Faceless, contemporary orchestral, and a ton of crappy pop), trying a few basic mixes, and "making beats" (writing/recording electronic music). The Good: ------------ The highs are very crisp and airy but not fatiguing. The mids have a lot of detail without seeming to far forward. The lows are the most surprising part. I wasn't expecting that much low-end out of such small drivers. Its tight and very controlled. They are very well-built and feel solid. The included decoupling stands look nice (see "The Meh" below). The stands allow for huge vertical arc to aim the monitors at your face whether they are placed high or low. The Meh: ----------- I ran the onboard Arc calibration on both monitors. After you get the mic setup where you would normally sit, it takes about 5 seconds for the calibration to complete on each side. You'll need to calibrate each monitor. They sound different when switching between "FLAT" and "CAL" on the back after calibration, but I couldn't tell you if its actually better or really correcting the output for my room acoustics. Its just different. I'll trust the calibration and leave it on. Next, the light on the front is a bit annoying because its pretty bright in a dim room, BUT it isn't blue (thank Jeebus!). A tiny piece of electrical tape you can't even see takes care of that annoyance. Lastly in the "Meh" category, the stands don't seem to do much decoupling. I ended up cutting 2 Pentel White Erasers into 4 pieces each with a razor and placing them under the edges of the stands. This greatly reduced vibrations on my desk. I should order some proper decoupling pads. I guess I'll need to re-calibrate after that, too. No biggie, takes all of 5 seconds per side after you set up the included Arc mic in your sitting position <smile, wink, tooth sparkle, nod>. The Not-So-Good: --------------------- My desk sits several feet away from a sound-treated wall behind it, so this isn't much of an issue for me, but it may affect you if your setup is very close to the wall and/or you have nothing to absorb sound on the wall behind your monitors. These are rear-ported and they do produce port noise over a range of low frequencies. At my seated position I can't hear it, but if I walk around the side or behind my desk while a mix is running I can definitely hear them buzz. I only thought to look for this after watching several YouTube videos showing these producing port noise. It might also be loose wiring vibrating inside - who knows. Anecdote 1: I had a set of Focal CMS50s a long time ago that had loose wires in them that vibrated (they weren't taped down inside the enclosure). I sent them in for repair since the ports on those were front-facing and I could hear it clearly. After I got them back I sold them and bought a pair of CMS65s that had the same problem. Got them 'repaired' and have been using them ever since. Overall: --------- I'm keeping the MTMs. At 700 bucks a pair I don't think I'll find more revealing monitors anywhere near this price range. I have a set of Focal CMS65s that cost more than twice as much as the MTMs when I bought them nearly a decade ago, and they don't sound as nice or detailed. I need to take frequent breaks when using the Focals or I get ear fatigue and just want silence - I don't experience that with the MTMs. The Focals take up more desk space and don't reproduce lows anywhere near as well as the MTMs. Anecdote 2: I had a set of Presonus Eris E5s with a Temblor T8 sub for about a month that were nowhere near as 'crisp' or punchy and honestly that sub turned everything under 80Hz to mud no matter where I placed it or how I tuned it. The sub on the Vizio SB2821 connected to my TV sounds cleaner. That Eris 2.1 set costs less than a pair of MTMs ... and it sounded like it. I like Presonus software and gear in general, but that sub is garbage. It does bug me a bit when I think about the port noise (or loose wires or whatever it is), but since it doesn't affect me in my setup, I am willing to live with knowing it exists ... although I wouldn't say no to a replacement pair 'guaranteed' not to buzz the port (just because). At 350 each these really shouldn't have buzzing ports. Again, let me stress that I can't hear it seated at my desk. I only hear it when I step off to the side or behind my desk. ... show more

  • Great sound and you won't be disappointed
Color: Black
It sounds great once you have done the room correction. It is small but powerful. To achieve the best sound, prepare to pick a good DAC and upgrade your sound sources. You will enjoy these speakers.

  • unreliable speaker bad customer service
Color: Black
The media could not be loaded. i have had this speaker for over 2 years and i have tried to get product support through amazon and the manufacturer (iK multimedia) and neither was willing to help me with the product. neither cares about the customer experience and they are just happy to unload whatever they have in stock and leave you with the issues. the support for IK multimedia only works through email and they do not know anything about their products and do not care about fixing persistent issues. i do not advise anyone to use this product there are much better options of real speakers for this price. if 0 stars was available it would be that! ... show more

  • Sound Bassy and Thumpy to Me
Color: Black
I put them on my desk 30" a part aimed up at my ears. I listen about 30" away. 1st impression is that they are bassy and a bit thumpy and the low bass not as clear as I expected. A bit plasticy sounding, a bit nasally or muffled, not sure if being on a hard desk surface makes an overall difference. I would not say they sound great as others have said. Sound is easy on the ears and the highs are not harsh and light. But are they accurate and good for mixing? I did the calibration and played them with that and flat and desk modes. I think the desk mode is brighter, then the flat mode and then the calibration mode but not a huge difference between them all. I think the bass like a sub woofer thump is what I get mostly. I had Yamaha HS80 before and did not like them but if I remember they sounded better just not sure how accurate and flat they were either. ... show more

Color: Black
These speakers are proof physics can be bent! the bass that comes from these little jewels is stunning. The accuracy, sound quality, sheer volume and soundstage is beyond words. Once the DSP is calculated with the included mic, you will be stunned at what you hear. I have had speakers at 10x the price and 3x the size get shamed by these little jewels. ... show more
