As many others I was a bit skeptical of this kit but decided to take the plunge and try it. It arrived in the very well padded shipped-from-China box in a few days. When I opened the box it appeared that everything was there that I would need to make it work. There are no directions included and that is because there are probably many ways to install the kit components depending upon which bike you are using. The engine takes up quite a bit of room so the bike needs to have a deep V frame and a horizontal, not curved or slanted top bar over the V or the engine will not fit in the space between the V and the top bar. The bike that we wanted to install the kit on did not have the room for the engine, neither did any of the other bikes that we own until I remembered a 35 year old bike hanging up in the barn. I got it down and the frame was perfect with a deep V and straight horizontal top bar between the handle bar mount and the seat. The tires were rotted crispy so I purchased a new set of tires and tubes, took the bearings apart and greased them and then began the engine install That part went smoothly and if you have any mechanical abilities it will work fine. The first step is to mount the engine to the engine mount and use blue Loctite on the bolts to keep them from vibrating loose when the engine is running. Next check the angle of the cast frame mounts (unbolted from the engine mount) to see if the angle is correct. In my case the rear mount had the correct angle but the front one had to be ground at more of a severe angle to fit the angle of the frame. I used a bench grinder and it took a couple of minutes. I then primed and painted the ground area so that I would not get rust later. I then mounted the engine mount to the frame mounts loosely and placed some rubber padding between the frame mounts and the frame to allow for slight misalignment. Be sure that the top of the engine mount is parallel with the ground when you tighten the mount to the frame. That worked well. I glued a rubber pad to the bottom of the fuel tank and then made a couple of straps to go under the frame rail and onto the supplied threaded studs on the fuel tank, there were not straps for this in the kit. I them used the supplied washers and nuts and applied blue Loctite to the stud threads to secure the fuel tank in place. The throttle and kill switch mount together after separating the kill switch housing. I drilled a hole in the handle bar for the stud on the kill switch housing that keeps it from rotating once installed. Be sure to check for clearance from your brake lever when aligning before drilling your hole. That all bolted together well and I hooked up the kill switch wires and throttle with no issues. The sprocket mounted fairly easily except that after I mounted it I found that I had mounted the offset toward the outside which caused the drive chain to drag on the bike frame. I took it all apart and reversed the provided sprocket so that the offset would be toward the wheel and it worked well this way. I did need to shorten the chain and when I removed the master link clip it flew across the garage and I throught I would never find it. With prayer I was able to find it so be sure that you put a towel or something over it when you remove it, it flies far. I installed the chain and needed to use the chain idler supplied with the kit to route the chain up and over the rear wheel support frame so that it could clear the frame and then down to the sprocket. The top part of the chain cleared everything. I put fuel in the gas tank, turned on the fuel valve (the fuel line that is supplied needs to be cut so that you have a short piece of line from the shut off valve to the filter and the rest from the filter to the brass fuel inlet on the left of the engine carburator that has no lines on it when it arrives. The fuel line just pushes on. I turned on the fuel, put the choke lever to choke, pulled the pull start and with two pulls the engine was running. Move the choke lever to run and have fun. I did need to modify my pedal set up because the old bike pedal arms were attached differently the new ones on the kit which must be used to clear the engine. You need to pedal the bike to get it going with adding throttle or you will burn out the centrifugal clutch. Just remember to pedal to start from a stop and to assist on going up hills and you will have a great little moped. ... show more

From the pictures I've attached you can see: Paint chipping and rust in gas tank threads, rusted chain, rusted and damaged muffler. As you can plainly see, this will not fit a 1" (~25mm) frame bike tube. Also a problem that can't be pictured: engine bolts that hold the engine on to the mount are too long, meaning the engine is loose and flopping around. Also, be aware that if you have a one piece crank on your bike you will need to do further modification such as buying a conversion kit to 3 piece crank and an extra wide crank arm. Or you could bend your current cranks to clear the engine. It's no secret that this is cheap chinese junk at it's finest, and you can see here on full display just what you are paying almost $200 for. I'm not saying to not buy an engine kit for your bike, but please look up videos on what the best brands to buy are (hint: don't buy this, get another brand, and get a 2 stroke, much easier). I am currently in the process of talking to customer support and requesting a refund. Even if I do get one, I will not change my rating or opinion of this kit. UPDATE: At least customer service is good, however if you need replacement parts they may come from China. I'm returning this because I can't find a bike that it will actually fit on. They are sending me a prepaid return label to a US warehouse, apparently. Another takeaway and a lesson I learned: DO NOT BUY A 4 STROKE KIT UNLESS YOU ARE READY TO DEAL WITH THE HEADACHE! The 4 stroke kits use the flat engine mount. 2 strokes do not. 4 strokes are nice and I really wanted one to not have my bike sound and smell like a weedwacker. I don't care now, I'd gladly take a 2 smoke over the absolute nightmare it is to get a 4 stroke installed. ONLY BUY A 4 STROKE IF YOU HAVE PUT TOGETHER BIKE KITS BEFORE AND ARE ABSOLUTELY SURE THAT IT WILL FIT YOUR BIKE! TAKE MY ADVICE AND LEARN FROM MY MISTAKE OR YOU WILL REGRET IT. ... show more

I have given this five stars based on the performance that I was able to get with a few modifications. The kit is obviously generic so be prepared to provide your own solutions to placement and mounting. As provided the kit is made for flat running at speeds that I do not consider safe in the long run on an ordinary bicycle. I did a custom mount of the motor mounting plate directly to the frame of my bike. I modified the springs in the clutch spreading three of the coils in each spring with a screwdriver to allow slower running. Finally I put a 56 tooth rear sprocket in place of the standard 44 tooth sprocket. Now the bike climbs hills without having to assist with the pedals and still runs over 20 mph which is plenty fast for a regular bicycle. I have not had a chance to run a long distance on straight flat roads. My guess is that the bike will hit about 23 mph. As long as you just treat this as a kit of parts needed and are willing to work out your mounting and maybe the need for a different sprocket this is a great kit. Motor starts and runs easily, and you can run without much noise with a clutch spring modification. Yes I painted some parts a nice fluorescent green. I would definitely buy again. ... show more

Had an issue with quality of clutch, seller was able to send a replacement which worked for a while until it broke. Was able to source a better quality clutch. Worked good until gearbox broke, bought an upgraded one and it seemed to work. Was running good until the exhaust bolts became stripped out. now the bike has no exhaust pipe, is able to run but new issues arise. there are always issues with these kits and I recommend saving your money and investing it into an electric bicycle. ... show more

Good running motor but the clutch went bad in 5 miles but orderd a 7g belt drive and worked out awesome im gonna keep it just dont use the stock clutch.
